Diego Simeone: “Spanish football shows week after week that any stadium can be tough. I think Barcelona, despite losing the most matches among the top teams, is the one that has consistently seemed capable of beating any opponent.”

Even Cholo knows Flick is by far his biggest opposition

Cholo literally OWNS Ancelotti

In his first tenure, in his second tenure. Home, away. Every single time, Cholo rolls him over. With worse squads, with shit players, Carlo simply has no answer and no solution for Cholo.

This needs to be talked about. Cholo would have even stripped him of a CL title in 2014 if not for Ramos bailing his ass out.

An absolutely fantastic transfer window. Just like the last one, but I think this could be even better

Let's see how he does. And whether he stops with the no money bullshit excuses

You cannot keep spending hundreds of millions on players you sign off on and not win trophies or at the bare minimum just compete better and fight till the end.

I know what Simeone has done for them, what he means for them.

But at some point you need to cut out that "oh we cannot compete" gimmick. You don't spend so much money not to compete.

Terrible football
Constant losing
Highest paid coach in the world
Spends decent money every couple of seasons.

All for what?

They need to rip the bandaid off with him, this summer would have been the summer.

Whenever they sack him, they'll have to spend a shit ton of money again, getting players a modern coach wants

Should replace him with Carlos Bianchi.

Seriously though, Atleti appear stale to me, and at a stage where it does not really matter who they bring in under Simeone.

BUT

They are correct in last seasons assessment. They lost their season the week they went out to Madrid to that controversial penalty and then the subsequent LaLiga loss to us.

In the end they have spent more money than Barca lately and what do they have to show for that? They have been disappointing since their CL losses really. Okay outside that Suarez title win.

What do we mean by spend? The annual cost of Barca squad is twice as Atletico, we were top 4 in Europe last year.
Atletico is distant 3rd in La Liga financial ability, and they perform the same way.

Transfer budget is a fraction of money clubs spend, and even if you consider it as the money Atletico has ignored their squad reinforcement after 2019 and it was mostly old farts that Simeone managed to overachieve with them, last summer was the first one they actually broke the bank to really improve it, but even then their squad was still not half good as Barca or Madrid.

Atletico might have stalled, but that is an actual achievement, they should have declined far more by now. Unless a top coach is available, their board knows they are most likely downgrading if they change coach.

Always with the excuses for him.

He's shit and his time at the club has run out, he's out of ideas and the team needs a new voice simple.

Their would be 0 decline with any half defend manager could manage them to 3rd with the squad they've had for years.

Couple lucky CL run.

But when they could actually win it, you guessed it, he fucked up

I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the highest in Europe as well.

The fact that they pay players less than ours is no excuse.

You drop 90m on a player, you're playing with the big boys.

Big boys don't get excuses

Agree
They need fresh ideas, just like Flick brought to Barca. Too much the same. Atletico is capable of more, but they are used to Simeone ways. They can be better than that.

Simeone needs to leave for his own good too.
