Cole Palmer

By far the best English footballer in the world

He is right now but I think Foden at his best is also right up there. I know he just had a poor season on the back of winning the Premier League player of the year award. Pep has turned him into a system player. When the team is fully functioning he's outstanding. But when it's not, as it wasn't all of last season, the evidence is there for all to see. Can't forget the consistency of Harry Kane either. The only real thing you can throw at him is that he's yet to influence a final for club or country. But he has scored against the biggest clubs and countries in the world which includes derby's, quarter and semi-finals.

England needs to build a team around this guy.

Problem is, he's much better playing off the right, which is where Saka has always done so well for England. Palmer is more naturally talented than Saka, but Saka is too good to bench as long as he's in form. While Palmer can obviously play in the middle as a 10, teams can always just pack the middle of the park so there's little space in that area.

It's hard to bench a player like Saka, but I would always prioritize balance everytime over trying to put in all the stars.

Speaking as an England fan, I think we would miss his pace too much. If Kane starts then you need to have speed either side of him. Though Palmer is deceivingly quick when running with the ball to be fair.

Slow motion for this goal is beautiful

Think England has never had the kind of quality players that can be used to build around likes of Palmer. Palmer seems to to be very atypical briton player, something like Best or that tall guy, who played for Sunderland or something. England never builds around those kind of guys, that's more for Spain, Portugal or south american sides. Technical ability is just not the kind of thing that is valued in their system.

Agree with your point, (look at how they glorify pace and power merchants like Gerrard), but who is the tall guy who played for Sunderland? Do you mean Glenn Hoddle when he was at Spurs and misunderstood?

Also,. Best was Northern Irish, but I know you mean British Isles in general.
