Also the gap between him and Balde is not that big.. Profile wise similar players. Balde needs improvement in several segments of his game and then they can be at a very similar level

Balde just needs to stay fit.
He's used as a much more traditional FB than balde, he's not solely responsible for providing width for club or country
Balde is asked to play the entire Left wing, so he's caught out of position, if he was playing for PSG he could look pretty much exactly like Mendes.

Get back to me when Balde is able to bully attackers off the ball as easily as Mendes. Mendes is a beast physically. Attacking wise I agree though, Balde is pretty close to Mendes.

I think he's better than Marcelo defensively and better than Abidal offensively. He already has more goals and assists than Abidal, and he's just 22. He still has time to either become better or decline.

Brings lightning pace at LB. Balde is quick (although he seems to have lost a bit of pace) but this guy is both stronger and quicker. Ensured Lamine didn't taking him on all game.

But all this means we can improve Balde too. He needs more muscle and more developement. He is younger than Mendes by much too. He also needs a pure winger on the left side. And he will be great

He is brilliant, but Yamal will cook him again, because Yamal is miles ahead of the rest as well.
The only other player who gives him problems in world football is Olise, and that was shown in the previous round Vs Bayern.

I think Leao would cause him significant problems with his speed too. Although both are on left side so won't face each other directly
