What Mbappe needs at this point of his career with his mentality is similar to what Messi needs with the Argentine national team.

9 other in-field players who works hard off the ball. 3 CMs + a RW who is creative. A LB who can dominate the left wing. A number 9.

Problem is Mbappe is at the wrong club and RM will go nowhere having Mbappe, Vini and Bellingham all at the same time.
Plus is Mbappe really worth that sort of sacrifice? More than Vini is I think, but I am still not convinced.

They got away with it with Ronaldo because of his insane goalscoring prowess. Mbappe isn't that level of GOAT scorer and has less to his game than Penaldo. He won't scab as many big goals while Madrid are getting dominated as Ronaldo could.

Plus Ronaldo's two biggest weapons - heading ability and runs in the box/off ball movement, meant Real could just cross balls for him in the air or ground and he could make something out of it. Mbappe comes nowhere near Ronaldo in either area. I don't think he's a worse finisher than Ronaldo, but he's not as good at finding many chances.

That (and the refs) is why they could fluke games against great opponents when Ronaldo was there, but can't do it with those three as much.

If Mbappe was like 22/23 age range, I would think that the sacrifice is worth it.

But the guy will be 27 this year. His speed is his biggest asset and if that is gone then I don't think that he would have much to offer playing wise to make that sacrifice. Plus all the drama that he brings and constant talk of how to fit in both Vini and Mbappe together adds to that argument.

True.

But amazingly I still think he'd be a better bet than building around Vini or Bell.

All three are very overrated and flawed, for me. And all three are delusional, precious, and think they're far better than they are, fuelled by a media and social media culture that builds up merely 'good' players into superstars. See Vini's rage because a far better player like Rodri had the audacity to win an award over him.

Hence the predicament Real find themselves in.
