PSG signed doue for 50m
We got yamal for free.

They signed Mendes for IDK 40m?
Balde free.

Nevers 50m
Bernal, casado free.

You see what I'm getting at?, so we should have the best youth setup in the world and sign a bunch of 30-40m players.

In a perfect world sure, but it doesn't really work like that

The difference is they can miss, we can't. Us 30-40 mil is life or death. We can barely register these players.

The lower the fee, more likely it's to fail(to a good level). So these 30-50mil probably miss very often. PSG can do this with unlimited money. Keep throwing shit at wall, but they are still better throwing money around than Chelsea who is completely clueless.

Yep, you know how many CBs they signed before landing on pacho.

Our strategy is fine and we have shown we can sign good market players when we have the ability to.

Every team does things differently and what works for them.

If Madrid has Masia and we were signing players, fans would be saying we need to develop our own players more.

We did well in 2022
We signed
olmo
Garcia
Almost signed Nico.

That's more than good enough, if we can sign an Inexpensive LB then we'll be cooking but I don't know who that is.

Tek
Kounde
Martinez
Pedri
De Jong
Olmo
Raphinha
Lewa.

Players in our starting XI last season that are not masia, what more can we ask for lol.

We can add kessie, Christensen, auba to that list as good transfers.

It's not like that if you do your homework. We didn't even lose money on Malcom, even though most would call him a failed transfer. I mean, yeah, you miss if you sign some absolute bum like Dest for 30-40m. But if you don't hit total flops, you usually get most of the money back if not bank a decent profit.

Basically, if you're skilled a bit, the best that can happen is you hit a home run, and the worst is a minor loss. With many that can land in the middle, player is not quite Barca material, but many teams will jump in and pay good money for him because he is still quality.

Happened with Sanchez and Malcom, two of the very few examples of young players signed in that price range (one from Serie A, and one from Ligue 1). We lost way more on overhyped flops that cost the club a huge amount.

Basically, you need a bit of discipline. 40-50 is good sum for a promising player of a young age that didn't prove himself at the top level yet, with low CL experience, not a starter for a high quality NT, those sort of metrics. As you approach 80m the player has to be dead on quality with multiple solid performances at the top level vs big teams, with CL or big league experience and so on.

Completely missing this weapon at our club for me. We need to step up our game in this area. This area for me is 30-50m player of good age, without ties to Spanish football or La Masia.

De Jong is outside of this area for example. Well established youngster with massive interest already set, star-like fee. Raphinha is borderline, more of a big name, but still a move we rarely make.

Jumping into the conversation, our scouting should be much easier now that we have Flick than ever before. We are as far away from the tiki taka technical prowess above all as we have ever been.

In under one season he turned guys like Ferran and Raphinha into top players.

There is no reason to be stuck on big names and proven only in the top leagues as we have a manager who has shown he will squeeze the most out of decent to good players.

Now for Deco, and In regards to our budget. We won't get creative for exotic names costing 20-30m+. It's just not going to happen after the bust of Vitor Roque, unfortunately.

I'm not talking about exotic names. I'm talking about good players playing in top 5 leagues for good teams. Chasing likes of Diaz after the Liverpool told us he's not for sale is idiotic if that's what we're doing.

Diaz is not feasible for 40-50m. Move on to other targets to improve the team.

Im very worried we will panic buy an old subpar player with to much former star status for way to much money as some kind of prestige, like we did with Ibrahimovich to "prove" we can buy a big player despite Nico deal falling through.
Overpaying for Dumfries and giving Rashford a way to good deal etc.

I agree with you. Just saying I doubt we go for an Antonio Nusa type after what happened with Roque.

Should get back to the summer of Raphi and Kounde. Too top players at the right age and not from big clubs.

Yep exactly the moves we need, we are limited by resources not the ability to identify talent

Well maybe we are without Xavi
