La Liga Round 37: Barca - Villarreal 2-3

That's just sick! Well, it's not surprising anymore...
And the club management wants to fire Iñaki Peña?! Really?!
Let's be honest, Ter Stegen has been a weak goalkeeper for a long time, even before his injury, he was no good, neither fish nor flesh...!
And he's also unlucky!
Look, how can you not see it? Are they bribing the coaching staff, giving half of their salary, or what or what is it?! Here screen my message - if in the off-season the coaching staff will not seriously strengthen the defense, and will not reconsider their attitude to the element of defense called - “high line of defense” - then we will forever play a game called - catch-up with all the clubs! We don't know yet how Yamal will play next season, whether the young guy will stand the test of glory and success! The second season is always the hardest! And once again, the defense is a kindergarten! Rafinha is dead on the field.... And he's not allowed to take free kicks... Flick is a good coach, but he's a foreigner, he doesn't understand the Barcelona spirit that comes from La Masia,
ALL teams - all ages, from La Masia to the main squad - never learned to play high defense! And he is trying to break the boys over his knee by teaching them a foreign style that takes years to learn! Also, Flick has no backup game plan..... AT ALL! He's not flexible at all!

I hope ter stegen gets booed in the trophy presentation
What a scum comment. Trying to insult, hurt and ridicule the captain during celebrations. Some people need more air and take example of stadium fans, who pay hundreds of Euros to support the players, instead of being whiny bitches on the internet.

How do you rate Mats? Forum’s perspective aside.

In the current form, he is clearly not good enough. But after being injured for nearly a year, it's hardly a surprise. Gavi for example also runs around like a headless chicken most of the time after his ACL. Lewandowski's injury destroyed his form too.
I want to see them doing a full pre-season again and then rate them going into the new season. The club has no money to spend anyways for a good goalkeeper. The first priority needs to be a winger, because we have absolutely zero quality wingers on the bench and Rapha and Lamine can't play 70 games on the same level.
If we had the money, then sure go ahead and try to find a good long-term replacement for MAtS. But it is what it is.

How about the last several years of MATS pre- his latest injury?

The idea of giving ter Stegen pre-season as if he's a new arrival makes no sense.
He's a goalkeeper. We know his strengths. We know his weaknesses.

We also know he's had multiple knee and back problems the last 3-4 years and that he's 33 years old. He should not be the starting goalkeeper of Barca anymore.

If there's a budget to get a new GK then the club need to go and get a new guy and tell ter Stegen his time here is up. He can try and stick around as the backup or do himself and his career a favour and start elsewhere. Not sure how loyal Nagelsmann will be if he's benched most of next season.

To add to my point: We literally signed a goalkeeper mid-season who was retired and sipping whiskey and golfing in Marbella.
Did we miss ter Stegen? I think an overwhelming majority of fans will say no, and it's not like Tek is great himself. He's just decent.
When we have moved from literally the entire old guard and constantly trying to improve the squad why are we against doing the same at the GK position?

Go and find your next future starter that doesn't look mentally shot out there and constantly underwhelming. Get someone whose body won't break down.

I don't care if it's Chevalier, Joan Garcia, Bulka or someone else. I'm not a scout, it's Deco's job.

Loss does not sully the trophy.
It looks a bit odd when you basically field the strongest 11 but Flick probably wanted for fans to greet their heroes.

Don't think it's the last match at Olympic stadium btw.

The who give a player a pre season in general doesn't make any sense, if you don't get it over 9 months, why will it click over two.

Unless you were out injured long term
