Jeremie Frimpong has a 35m release clause. Was reported a lot last summer that Flick wanted him, but we prioritized Olmo/Nico Williams instead.

He's more of a wing-back though. Very good in attack. Bad in defence.

Great  if his system is making it harder for good defenders, wait until we sign a winback to play him in a back 4.

Yeah, although to be fair, Hakimi was regarded to be the same being great in attack and terrible defensively.

He was a wing-back at Dortmund and Inter and everyone said he couldn't play well as a more "normal" FB. And he's clearly improved a lot.

It all depends on what the player's issues are. Is the player too rash with his challenges? Not able to position himself properly or does he
switch off completely and ball watch like Trent? Some things you can rectify with good coaching and more emphasis on it. Other things such your defensive awareness is tough to improve much.

I don't know if Frimpong would be a great option for us, but then again what's to say other names such as Vanderson and Ratiu whose weaknesses you pointed out are either.

As @DonAK pointed out, it isn't a straight forward situation. Dumfries and Hakimi were supposed problems in the right side.

Also, we still have Kounde. Frimpong should be an alternative rather than a starter.

With that said, 35M is actually a lot for backuo RB.

Now, if you decide to go and watch some good highlights for him, I would advise you to see this one afterwards, this guy is a genius in highlighting player bad moments.

Good post.

Hakimi is a way better physical specimen though. And arguably a smarter player.

Which helps him apply his pace and pressure in defence.

I'm not sure if Frimpong can bring that. But if he could be a Dani Alves light, then happy days I guess.

Good point. Would also be nice to have a bigger FB like Hakimi and Mendes tbh.
I think Frimpong is more like a Kyle Walker lite than a Dani Alves lite, so maybe he isn't a great option due to that after all.

Hakimi is 1cm taller than Kounde, we don't lack that much height in fullbacks.

Balde is the shrtest we have, but at 1.75 he is average, not undersized.

Hakimi is the full package for a RB, he is now what Dani Alves was between 2005 to 2010. An athletic, strong RB who is very good but not elite defender, and an attacking force on his own.

We need a serious clean out and to go all in on Wirtz depending on how we go with cash.

Sell
One of Fermin for 80-90m or Olmo 65-75m
Ferran sell for 60-70m if lucky
Fati sell for anything to get off books
Araujo - if possible sell or keep another year and wait to grab Konate on a free transfer next season.
P Victor - can go useless cant rotate him 20m
Christensen - 30m?
G Martin - Ive had enough cash in now while the media are praising his ass look at over 30m?
P Torre - They dont use him can sell for over 30m ?
TerStegen & Pena - Send them goodbye 5m each
Hector Fort send on loan

Get
Wirtz - 120m negotiate it down a bit to 110m
Leao - Under 60-50m and its a deal for me if he doesn't ask for much in salary currently on 6m while Nico is asking for 17m.
Mastantuono 35m or Diao 25m (Luxury)
Grimaldo 30m or Hato better options + New RB 20m or start using Landry Farre very talented and get one defender.
Joan Garcia 25m
Rashford (loan)

Lewandoski/Rashford (loan)
Leao/Raphinha Lamine/Mastantuono or Diao
Wirtz/Olmo or Fermin
Pedri/Gavi/dejong
Casado/Bernal
Balde/Grimaldo or Hato Kounde/Dodo or Vanderson
Inigo/Garcia Cubarsi/Araujo
Joan Garcia/Szczęsny

Extra subs from youth who's potentially FT quality now.... RB/LB Landry, RW/CF Diarra, AM Toni Fernandez, AM Guille Fernandez, LB Jofre, CB Cuenca, AM Quim, LW Juan Hernandez

Ebrima Tunkara might take the Lamine path soon which would eliminate Wirtz. They might be keeping an eye on him.

Say after next season Araujo, Inigio and maybe Garcia leave, like i said bring in Konate, and our development CB player Cucena sign a proper right back like Hakimi (would be funny just like madrid signing trent) and move Kounde back to centre back duties with Konate and then with Kounde swtiching from CB-RB. This is why it could be smart playing Landry then wasting 20-30mil on RB? If landry kills it we dont need nobody its Balde who needs that help/sub

Raphinha, Leao, Rashford, Wirtz and Olmo can fill in from time-to-time at CF for Lewandoski, I wanted J David but it seems were stacked with two very good CFs in Gistau and Diarra. Leao and Rashford can easily both play CF. Its a top rotation we could have, another downside to Nico he just plays wing.

Surely we can afford this above.

Following the 26/27 season you would think Lewandoski and Raphinha might be leaving which would be a good time to see if we can get/afford Haaland. New stadium will help. Thats the Striker done avoiding paying high for an Isak - not that good or Alvarez - too short ...Haaland is the perfect replacement with a young Gistau or Diarra behind him.
This isn't FIFA lmao

There was couple of tweets for the details of it, I will try to bring it.

But out of my memory:

The FFP hell rules that we suffered are a thing of the past. For starter there is a bar minimum of your salary cap regardless of your losses, this will be at 30% of your income. Remember when Barca at some point had negative salary cap? Not possible anymore.

There are other rule change, some sort of "franchise tag/Bird rights" for your youth player, that will make Lamine renewal easy and not going to affect our FFP that much. I honestly didn't grasp the entire concept.

The 1:4 rule is going to 65%

There is 3 players you can register temporarily for one year, until you provide proofs of ability to fully register him. I would like it to be named the "Olmo rule". Basically if it was there last summer, Olno gets registered then we have to provide FFP proofs during the season to make his full contract registered.

Those changes are probably made because the smaller clubs like Sevilla and Valancia were on the brink of disaster, and those are the ones that decide La Liga elections.

@JamDav1982 post from the Finances thread two weeks ago.

The new rules of the League avoid another 'Dani Olmo case' and increase the protection of Lamine Yamal

The employers' association relaxes the rules of economic control to encourage signings in the next summer transfer market, especially among the clubs that exceed

La Liga once again loosens the noose around the necks of clubs exceeded in terms of Fair Play. The body chaired by Javier Tebas has announced new modifications to the Budgeting Regulations (NEP). FC Barcelona has had to act as a martyr and maintain a pulse in the courts so that the employers have given in. The governing body of professional football has made the rules of the game more flexible, in order to encourage signings in the next summer transfer market.

The employers' association remains firm in its efforts to overturn the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, as it has already filed an appeal before the Central Court of Administrative Litigation, against the maintenance of the licenses of both signings, a resolution issued by the Higher Sports Council (CSD)). Paradoxically, La Liga has promoted three major changes that would avoid or, at least, minimise cases such as the uncertainty suffered by the playmaker from Egara, and Barça's fear with the upcoming renewal of Lamine Yamal: provisional visas, a guaranteed minimum salary limit of 30% of income, and the renewals of homegrown players on the rise.

Provisional visas

The workers hired by Limak Construction are working tirelessly to finish the installation of the VIP seats before June 30, and thus calculate the sale of 475 luxury seats of the new Camp Nou for 100 million euros.

In any case, in the worst case, the club presided over by Joan Laporta could take advantage of the new provisional visas granted by La Liga from the 2025-26 season. Each team that exceeds the squad cost limit will be allowed to register three players, one via transfer and two as free agents, and who only have a salary limit for one season.

Thus, Barça would not have had to resort to the injury of Andreas Christensen, whose salary only covered the star signing's salary until December 31. In addition, the Catalan club would have had an entire season to compensate for the excess and generate the required salary space.

Guaranteed salary cap

The implausible salary limits are over. Sevilla have a maximum of 684,000 euros to register players, according to the latest update of the squad costs allowed by the employers' association, in February 2025. Barça fell even deeper, to a negative limit of 144.4 million in February 2022. From the 2025-26 campaign, all First and Second Division clubs will have a guaranteed minimum salary limit.

The derisory spending ceilings will pass away, because the teams will ensure a minimum workforce cost of 30% of their income. Therefore, if Rayo Vallecano has the lowest income budget in La Liga, around 50 million in turnover, it could allocate 15 million in salaries from the team coached by Iñigo Pérez. FC Barcelona's turnover stood at 628 million in the 21-22 season, so it would have had the power to spend more than 200 million in first team salaries with the new regulations.

Homegrown renewals

The employers' association will also give the Barcelona club a helping hand about the imminent renewal of Lamine Yamal. The jewel of Rocafonda had agreed to formalize his contract extension until 2030, once he has reached the age of majority. In the Catalan institution there was a fear that the League would put obstacles in the way, with an implicit salary increase, after cancelling the calculation of the VIP seats operation.

The new regulations dispel doubts, as it includes the possibility of exceedingthe renewal of homegrown players who have experienced an emergence in the first team. It is Lamine, and many others in the case of Barça. La Liga will give the go-ahead for the excess clubs to register the new contracts of promoted talents from the reserve team.

Article 103 of the League's Budgeting Regulations allows excessive renewing homegrown players such as Lamine Yamal CAPTURE

However, this exception will be subject to certain requirements: under 24 years of age; linked, at least, the last three consecutive seasons to the club, the existence of an increase in value, the sporting and economic need to renew the player in question. With this, the amount over the limit will have to be compensated before the end of the season.

The 60% rule

As for the rest of the restrictions on the registration of transfers, the famous 1/4 and 1/3 rules are a thing of the past. In 2023, the League relaxed the percentage of the released salary that could be used for the registration of new players up to 50%, 60% in the case of a franchise player. The amount increased again to 60%, 70% for salaries that exceeded 5% of the cost of the registrable sports squad in 2024. In 2025, the rule remains in force.

With regard to the amount received per transfer, the limit of 20% paid per sale to increase the salary margin is not altered either. Exceptionally, 30% if he meets the condition of a franchise player.

That's huge, finally some common sense rules in la Liga.

I especially like the part about renewing home ground players, a similar rule exist in NBA, makes is easier to renew players you drafted.

Let's just say we can spend about 60m as we did last summer.

With Rashford on loan.
If we can sell Araujo for a hefty sum, and get two CBs (one for free Tah) and use some of the amount for a GK (Garcia)
Vanderson or Ratui as an RB for around 15m and about 25m for an LB.

Think that's a pretty good Mercato and we stay within FFP.
I will be happy, and honestly, we will compete in all fronts.

If we have bonus money, maybe use all that to get a ST, who could be ready to take over in April 2026 from Lewa.

With this new rule thanks @khaled_a_d @Messi983

We definitely have space for signings and in all likelihood araujo is out the door

But even then, still can't see us moving for anything but a RB and LW.

Tah in a free seems likely if we move fast enough, I don't think he's much of an upgrade on what we already have, but like I've said even before the araujo mistake, flipping him and signing someone free is just good business.

The type of thing I like to see the club doing.

RB
Tah
LW

That's a good window, we move for a striker next summer.

With these signings we can compete with Madrid, who won't be 12 points off there usual pace like they've been this season, unless Xabi is a fraud, which we can only hope.

Just took us to see the light and exit from the stringent rules, and Madrid needing to sign big for the rules to change eh.

Never change Theebs.
