This is why I try to avoid this thread. There is either so much delulu flying around or too many kids that just started watching Barca from 2022.

Lamine will NEVER even be able to compete with a current Messi talkmore of when he was in his prime.

What a useless discussion. Rakitic wouldn't start for for neither Barca 2009-2013 or current one, even in his peak form. Could find gazzilion examples like that, but what for?

He was never an elite CAM. If you think he’s benching Pedri you are once again showing you have no clue about football. Even Prime Rakitic is not able to do 40% of the stuff Pedri does on the ball. He was a great long passer (Pedri is too) and shooter, but under pressure he was often a liability.

He was always shit at press resistance, even in his prime, so no. He didn't have to worry about that in the MSN team, because there were enough guys, who could handle the midfield control so he could concentrate on clean up job and odd assist or long shot golazo.

Exactly. You could argue about Frenkie vs Rakitic but Pedri is MILES above Rakitic.

He could probably bench pedri too, prime rakitic was freaking class.

Different profile players, but he was class.

The worse of the starting 3 in that midfield, was at the very least equal to our best midfielder now, most likely better.

Pedri will be better in his prime though.

Ideally they would play together, as they are different in profile. But I wouldn't feel afraid to start a prime Rakitic over Pedri at times, if I need to choose one.

I remember he was best midfielder in LL before we took him form Sevilla. And that was an era when both Madrid and Barca had great mids.

Again, you're not Birdy little man.
