He clearly is. Certainly midfielders, no one has been close to him this season. As for other positions, you could probably make a case for Drogba, thats about it.

Inregards to Essien, he is a box-to-box monster, he is basically the engine of Chelsea, does all the dirty work and alot of his 'creative' game is restricted playing the covering role for the players ahead of him. I would take him over Yaya anyday of the week, I don't think there is a better...
