Victor Osimhen

The obsession Barcaforum has with this guy is ridiculous. We probably know only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all these football stories. There’s clearly something more and something wrong with this player. After all these years, the fact that no big club wants anything to do with him speaks volumes. Just move on and maybe even lock this thread once and for all.

Sporting wise (his output, style of play, goals and assists, general pure striker ability) he is a no brainer. Even for a high salary and transfer fee (which is the norm these days anyway).

Why isn't there more smoke surrounding the possibility of getting a player of his level?

We should be all over this signing, despite his personality. He seems loved by the fans at Gala and professional enough to carry the team as their prime star, still performing where and when it matters - who cares if he has a temper? So did Alves, so does Rüdiger, you can still be a valuable asset.

I think the more accurate question is if we would be so vociferously chasing Alvarez if he was Nigerian. :lol: There is a tacit bias towards players of certain nationalities, rightly/wrongly. But I agree that the non-footballing arguments against pursuing him are weak and unconvincing given we have always had hot headed players. Including a couple of outcasts in a potential deal could also help lower the transfer fee. His salary is a big stumbling block, but not something a shrewd SD would not resolve. Too bad for us, Deco is not that.

For now, Arsenal are reportedly interested in him.
 
There are conflicting reports on whether Galatasaray is open to transferring him. One report claimed Gala were asking for 65m, then Plettenberg from Goal claimed they had rejected a 130m offer from Saudi.
 
Victor Osimhen is probably the closest thing we have today to a Luis Suárez type striker: aggressive, relentless, chaotic and an absolute nightmare for defenders.


If Barça managed to keep Suárez focused and get the best out of him, I don’t see why we couldn’t do the same with Osimhen.


Just sign him and call it a day.

That's what i said, if he doesn't mind a transfert why not to Barcelona.
We don't have big rival who want to sign him.

If Alvarez is not possible, this our plan B i hope.

Why you guys sleeping on him. One of the best stricker in the word.

@Origami might know better, but I think such deals are usually businessmen/ government subsidised. So as long as someone is paying, they have no reason to sell

The 130m bid is almost certainly BS. Osi could probably have been bought earlier on in the window but they can't sell him now , as the Gala fans are in huge discontent about the lack of signings, especially since Fenerbahce has made some big ones like Greenwood.

There's a lot of anger amongst the fans, especially after they drew at home against a promoted team, with Osimhen scoring both their goals.

I think it's their way of trying to appease the fans a bit as they can't do that with signings as they are struggling for money and couldn't even get Leao over the line.

They are spreading rumours of a big bid for Bruno Fernandes, as if he would ever go there.

In short, a whole lot of PR.

Was Suarez really that problematic apart from his love for human flesh, which arguably, is very unusual and bad rep thing? Funnily enough, he did it several times, but none of them was at Barca. Otherwise he always seemed hard working pro for whoever played. Osimeh problem is that he starts going mad on the field and at his own players at times for not really good reason and in ludicrous ways and way more often than weird biting incidents of Luisito that seems to be some kind of bestial instinct and not a conscious troublemaking.

Yeah, it's like some kind of fetish or uncontrollable condition to him. It's really weird and unusual behavior. He even bite Alba, his teammate in MLS match recently (could've just slapped the bitch, but generally i endorse hurting him a bit), while having his "passion" moment in the heat of the scuffle. While it's quite an important shit, he never did it, while at Barca and just generally has been an exemplary proffessional throughout his career.
