People live in a lot of delusions.
- No there is no chance he will be cheaper than 100m. Probably not cheaper than 120m either. No serious source reported this.
- He will be our highest earner. And players will have the right to ask for his salary because there will be no reduced transfer fee nor Gala has a reason to reduce it.
- His attitude is a secondary problem. The idea that it is some massive problem with this player is a myth. It has always been greed. He went to Gala and not Chelsea because of his greed. Some of these players who come from poverty only care about money. He earns shit ton at Gala and maybe he's ok with that.
He could go to any club he wants if he lowers his salary demands. This is why most clubs ignore him. He is a world class striker but is he worth all that money and potentially fucking up everything with salary demands?
To me everything indicates he will be a player whose career legacy has been ruined by his own greed. In fact spending 2 years of his prime in Gala means it already kinda did. I don't know if he is too upset with this, because he will also be a player who earned generational wealth. Maybe that's all he wants.
Osimhen's issue was not greed, but more of Napoli trying to mess him up. If you followed their story, from their official TikTok account posting dumb videos mocking his penalty miss while he was still their player to his transfer being frustrated.
He agreed on personal terms with PSG, Napoli asked for over 100m, and PSG left. He later agreed terms with Al-Ahli, and there was an 80m package for him to get to Napoli, which was agreed on, but Napoli brought the price up again after hearing of Ivan Toney's transfer fee.
For Chelsea, they felt Osimhen was frustrated as the transfer window was almost ended, and Napoli had messed up his PSG and Al-Ahli deal. They then tried to lowball him by offering less than what he got: a base salary of 4m and additional performance bonuses of 4m.
Galatasaray saved him after the transfer window ended with a loan deal, since he didn't go to Chelsea, and they were happy with his performance as he was their player of the season, and made it permanent. He, in turn, was happy with how he was treated
Imagine earning 10m and Chelsea trying to offer you 4m fixed and 4m in bonus; he would've been stupid to accept that, and it's not greed. Most players won't accept that, so I wouldn't hold that on him. I'd still prefer we go for Alvarez over Osimhen, but I don't see his decision for not going to Chelsea as greed
