Probably works out less expensive overall. But I guess they just don't want him in the dressing room.

Well even with that he'll be one of the top earners at Ajax. Their top 2 players earn 4m gross, rest less.

MAtS salary: €20m
Saving in wages: €2m
Not having to watch ter Stegen in Barca training anymore: priceless.
 
He is cancer to the dressing room, even paying 100% of his wages is OK if he and his loser mentality are not around our youngsters.

Him finally leaving the club for good will feel like a CL win.
 
No wonder club is broke. How did his wages even grow to that level? € 20 million-ish for a GK who was never considered close to #1 in the world, had no starting spot for his NT, let alone can be considered generational like Neuer, Buffon, Courtois etc. You take a solid GK like Unai Simon for Barca football, pay him € 10 million max at his peak and be done with it.

He is pretty much on Neuer's wages for no reason according to quick Google search while Neuer clears him even at 40 and is in the GK GOAT debate.

Let's hope Joan's wages don't blow up after 2 - 3 good seasons.
 
According to Capology, his salary is 16 million plus 4 million in bonuses. I assume that if we are taking over 90% of his salary, that means 90% of the base salary, and that his bonuses won’t be paid because he won’t spend the season with us. I hope that’s how it works.

The biggest leech this club has had. It's actually insane to think he has been at the club for 12 years!! Longer than many Barca Legends stayed here.

This dude just rode out that good CL campaign in 14/15 for more than a decade. It's actually quite hilarious because in that season, it was Bravo in LL and MATS only for CL and Copa.


I believe he has been here longer than Victor Valdes, a much better keeper and a La Masia product.
