"Ter-rorist" (fully paid by Barca at Ajax)

barcaforum in the mud :mou:

Eh? Why should we care if Klopp embarasses himself. He wanted Julian Brandt over Salah you know...

Maybe it works out, who knows, I once saw a chicken with 3 legs when I was little, strager things have happened.

Neuer is the last great German GK in the long line of players running since Sepp Maier. They had to unretire him for the World Cup, which speaks volumes about the quality of the rest.

But I don't see the big surprise here - MATS was already no.1 pick by Nagelsmann after Neuer retired. What changed the discussion are the injuries and the arrival of Joan Garcia. I think Klopp simply honors that hierarchy of GK the team had for over a decade.

Germany doesn't play a serious game for 2 years, he will be long gone until then. Klopp just wants to be respectful, he will maybe get some friendlies as a thank you because he waited 15 years behind Neuer. Klopp would never play him in a Euro or WC, he's not blind.

I guess if they are all terrorists going for the oldest one makes sense.

Realistically speaking I don't see a superior German GK currently. They are at some equal average level. They speak of that kid, Neuer's protege at Bayern, but... I ain't seen him.

Not too surprising.

Neuer is 40 years old and evidently finished. Probably doesn't even want to go to another international tournament.

Ter Stegen is also finished and probably more than Neuer but he is younger and there are just no great German GK prospects around right now.

And they probably do feel they owe him 1 international tournament, him waiting all these years.

OK, that is funny.

What's funny is people actually believing "he's benched". If he'll be on the bench for more than one game then we can start to talk about that but last night they've played against bottom of the table team so it was just a rotation/rest (a concept unknown to our beloved German coach) to protect him after dealing with so many injuries.

But MATS has beeen Ajax's best rated player so far this season so don't see why Michel who clearly likes him as has brought him to both Girona and Ajax would bench him.

I genuinely hope this is the case going forward, would be a huge W for everyone involved if he is in fact rated highly and somehow rejuvenates his career - they don't even have to buy him, just loan him for the remainder of his contract but paying his wages in full.

Not that I'm betting on that to happen.

As much as Stegen shat the bed there as usual, I approve strict refereeing in these matters. Just whistle any kind of keeper interference inspired by EPL bum tactics where you have a player designated just to do that.
