55m is high. If it's triggered it will be great, and even if he has a better season than prime VVD I won't be salty that we lose him. His time at the club is done and I don’t think he has the consistency to perform here.
Still doubt he will be 55m good though and even then he will have to stay fit first and foremost.

The club can always renegotiate the fee, nobody is forcing them to buy Araujo for 55m. Will depend on the season and if it's less than 55m worth, I'm sure Barca will also be willing to sell him accordingly.

55M is the highest we can get. It benefits them more than us, and they can negotiate it down.
It works best for the seller if he was valued slightly below that amount, that it isn't worth the hustle of the negotiations and they would just pay.

I typed ' Loan without Obligation ' into my online Thesaurus and it came up with ' Kick can down the road '.
They are almost invariably a waste of time for the loaning party.
I would have preferred a lower fee with an obligation. They obviously like the player, would they have not accepted a 30-35m obligation?
In the rare occasions that Loans without Obligations have been executed, the player has had to far exceed his obligatory fee.
Of course, if Ron's 11m net wages is real that is considerable mitigation for instigating such a deal. But generally it's a lose lose for the selling club.

Well, the buy option is mainly a concession to the loaning club, rather than the selling club.
The selling club is not meant to derive a benefit from it. It is usually by request of the loaning club, essentially an insurance for them if they develop the player that his price will not go above a certain amount. It gives them more flexibility.
It incentivises them slightly more to play him and integrate him for the future knowing that they have a price they can negotiate down from.
And a loan with obligation is essentially a delayed transfer, I am not sure Liverpool were willing to transfer him especially if the 11m net figure is correct.
