We SHOULD absolutely sign him but he's set on Madrid, too late. This is just his agent putting pressure on Madrid and what better way than linking him to their arch nemesis.

Oh and of course the usual "Player rejected Barca, only wanted Madrid" crap once the transfer concludes.
 
Let's not forget he had a S.H.I.T. season in the league. 21 games of utter mediocrity.

Nobody on planet earth would even be thinking about signing him if he didn't play 8 good games in the World Cup, predominantly against rather poor teams, bar France.

People have such short memories. He has not been the same since his injury. 8 games on a completely different stage in completely different football won't change that. Everything is quicker in league football.

Bruno Guimaraes is available for 70m. Think he is a far far better signing. Cheaper in every way, younger. Was amazing last season, as good a playmaker as anyone in Europe.

At present Barca are asking a hell of a lot of Bernie to step up for Frenk. Gavi is not going to cut it and Eric is rather limited for a CDM for my liking.

That makes no sense, why would City do that, it makes no difference to them if they sell to Barca, would even make more sense to sell to Madrid, because they will get the deal done sooner and will have more time to search for replacement.

ACL can take time to fully recover from. VVD was a bit sluggish at first after his return but then went back to being undisputed best CB in the world. Pep said too that Rodri wouldn’t be back to 100% last club season.
 
VVD came back from his ACL in August 2021 and was named in both the Champions league team of season and EPL team of the year.

Didnt take him all that long to recover.

Rodri was still very good last season.. when available but he is a big midfielder turning 30 and had a lot of niggling injuries.
 
On one hand I would want and be ecstatic if he comes to us.

But on the other hand, him in Barca means Bernal surely leaves on loan or sold. Midfield stacked a bit too much.
 
We're being told since end of the WC that he is done deal for Madrid.

He is crazy about joining, Madrid crazy about buying him, City wants to sell.

It is a little bit sus... not gonna lie. I'm not saying this because of the reports lately but also beacuse Fabrizio said before a few days that City suspects "Barça might join the race".

Now Deco going to Madrid as to have a "face to face" with agent he's been on the phone with all transfer window.

We will see in coming days. I wouldn't write anything off here. To me looks very much like ballon d'or will be Blaugrana.

Btw. if some people on the forum are asking 60 million for Ferran, then is 70-75 million a fair price for Rodri?
 
Fabrizio says entirely up to the player this one.

His mind has cleared from the air in Durmitor. He will make the right decision (Barça).
 
This probably means we sell frenkie next summer.

I am okay with that. He has been unremarkable with us.

He came with a lot of promise but has performed mediocre in comparison to the high hopes we had for him.

(I anticipated Toni Kroos level of influence tbh)
