I don't think this was an Ancelotti choice tbh. Think it was a political push from CBF to include their biggest icon and to united the nation.

Ain't nobody believing a washed Neymar will do anything of note in the tournament.

It's the WC. All you need to do is be in form for 5-6 games.

Neymar also always performs for Brazil.

I find it jarring that the majority write him off despite his natural ability/talent being only second to Messi (on par with Lamine). It feels like a football hipster's choice to go against the "normies" who think Neymar will have his "last dance" at the upcoming WC.

He is easily a very good option off the bench to inject flair, playmaking, and the X factor ability. His minutes played and stats in 2026 are good.

Plenty of much worse players had great impacts at the WC.
 
A "washed" Neymar is still one of the best 10's at the WC easily.

He just needs to be find something for a few games, not that big of a stretch.

Is the best 3 they have behind the striker, add a striker that will work off the ball and it could work.

Will they win the WC unlikely, but Neymar certainly isn't making it less likely.

Stats like an average Brazilian league player, nothing special.

People think that he can bring his old self out like a rabbit out of a hat. He hasn't played against top opposition in 3-4 years. There is absolutely nothing that says he still got it other than hopes.

It's going to be a sad look when he plays imo.

There is a cynical side of me that thinks this was always going to be the case and that the federation knew. He was called up to make people happy, and now they will have to bring a replacement, which they've already prepared for.

People won't be able to say Brazil didn't call him up. Because it's injury that prevented it

And Brazil players will still be motivated, because they know he would have played if not for injury

They certainly made good money selling his kit. No matter if he'll miss the WC or join the team in the end. It's just a marketing gag with him, nothing more.

Carlo let his downfall be these Brazilian clowns who take focus from important things both in Brazil and Madrid. A serious manager wouldn't call neither Ney nor Vini but they went the marketing/emotions route so another humiliation for them at the WC is guaranteed.
 
Vini is horrible for Brazil and he distracts teammates with his crying and bullshit. Any serious team who wants to focus on winning the WC shouldn't touch him but I am well aware he's too big of a name to leave him out even if that was the smartest thing to do. Calling up that injured has been drunk sisterfucker is another level of crazy, Vini at least can play. Carlo doesn't care, it's a nice check for a couple of weeks work at the WC.

come on, vini ? his character is crap but in form he is one of the best LWs itw, Mbappe ruined him at Madrid this season
