Michael Olise

No one said rest isn't important but to try to argue that's the biggest advantage they have is complete horse shit. Is simple what I am saying and simple facts.

Lies.. it is being said it is a big advantage which it is and now more than ever due to number of games players are playing.

In 2024/25

Vitinha barely had any injuries and played 2035 minutes in the league... that is missing around 35% of the league minutes in a league that is already shorter than others.

That is him missing over a third of a season in a weaker league that already has 4 less games compared to EPL and La Liga.

Neves that season.. barely an injury played 1851 minutes in the league,

It is the equivilant of Arsenal, City, Real or Barca resting starters domestically for 46% of the league in Neves case and 40% for Vitinha.

It is a huge advantage.

Why not been advantage in past? Dont think PSG ever really did this before and Lucho has players realising the French league is largely irrelevant in comparison to CL.

Also the CL has expanded so teams have more games to play..making rest a bigger gain.

PSG also seem to be signing largely European players now and I would guess they see merit in players not having to travel half way round world every month or so. Although that is on anyone else to do likewise.
Vitinha only missed 3 games due to resting in that season and was injured for 2 games. Enrique rotates a lot cause he has quality depth with the likes of Kang In Lee (who's now leaving), Zaire Emery, Ruiz, Joao Neves. It would have its merit, but you need quality squad depth to implement that, and you'll still see some players getting annoyed with not having enough minutes

Now we were leading Madrid by 6 points before playing Espanyol, and Espanyol had lost 2 times in their last 3 games while drawing 1. In fact, they haven't won in their last 11 games and more, and we were winning 2-0 by 25 minutes; why didn't we rest our players? An Enrique now would've rotated since that's what he does to avoid injuries while still keeping the squad happy.

That's why I think it's an easy excuse to say we lost in UCL to Athletico cause Pedri was tired and Leggy, and Yamal got tired at the end of the game, cause we had opportunity to rest them and didn't, and that's on us. Funny thing is you could rest the players, and we also lose (some people then would say the players are lacking sharpness).

Don't forget that Arsenal won the same Athletico despite still being in a tighter battle for the league against City, infact they played City, then Newcastle and Athleti

Vitinha was barely injured and missed near on 40% of league minutes that season starting 20 of 34 games in league.

In CL he started 16 of 17 and played half an hour in one he didnt start.

I agree on Espanyol I argued before game and after should have rested players more.

If anything the players went 2-0 up and switched off a bit probably with one eye on Ateti game and that game were fairly fortunate to get out with 3 points in end.

No one is saying Barca lost because Pedri was poor and leggy.. but he was and you need to give yourself best chance to win those games and a tired Pedri isnt that.

Arsenal are better than Atleti... expected them to win.

We performed better against Atletico though...

By all accounts Atletico should have beaten Arsenal. And we should have beaten Atletico. Football can be nonsensical.

So did we lose cause we didn't rest well, or cause we didn't take our chances, or probably because of bad luck, or maybe they now understood how to beat us, cause that wasn't the first they beat us out of a competition? I don't think resting should be part of it, cause we could've done that if we wanted to; we had the advantage on our side

No one is saying teams that rest more will always win... literally no one saying that.

But it is a big advantage for PSG in CL to be able to add that advatntage to a top squad.

That's all well and good but can you give up the schtick that you're a Barca fan.

Can't remember one piece of news where you haven't taken the side of the player/entity against Barca.

Very very pro PSG though, and was doing cartwheels of joy when Dembele screwed the club to go there.

Yep we act as if other teams can't rest players as well.

I for one have consistently pointed out flick terrible squad utilization.

Barca for example puts entirely too much focus on winning the copa. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't give a fuck about the copa. We've won enough.

The likes of arsenal can easily rest players in the fa cup, league cup and games against lower league position. This argument that games 1-20 in the EPL is highly competitive in nonsense. The epl has been piss poor two years running.

Bayern has zero competition in Germany, they haven't won back to back CL.

If every team was exactly equally rested over the last two seasons, the winner of the CL would still be PSG

Because they have the best sqaud and best manager in football, those are the reasons they win the CL.

The CL adding 3 more games or whatever the number is doesn't then league to rest being this deciding factor.

The deciding factors to win the CL remains what they always have been.

Quality and luck.

It is a big advantage to be able to rest players.. for freshness and dealing with injuries.

PSG played the same starting outfield 10 in both finals.

It is almost unheard of.

Same folk who claims Flick is reason Kounde and Balde were poor last season due to over playing them in his system now claiming resting platers makes no real difference.

Will repeat... big advantage for Messi at PSG when did it and those same PSG players not been same at intl level or even the CWC when that advantage is not there to same extent.

Either he’s half-retarded, or he really wants to be an Ibrahimovic type, but he’s failing at it and ends up looking half-retarded. I’d bet on the second.

Nothing like Ibra. He just wants to keep his nonchalant persona.

Think he is humble and down to earth despite that, so no big issue.

I meant it in terms of his nonchalance, not as his entire personality. Ibrahimovic had that certain level of nonchalance and cockiness, but it was all packaged well. He’s trying to do something along those lines, but he just comes across as a bit of a moron.

Michael Olise is the best player in the world not named Lamine Yamal, for me. There are aspects to Olise's game that are more polished (being clinical in front of goal) being 6 years older but by most metrics (including defensive) Lamine is more influential. So while he's nowhere near the dribbler of Lamine he is also a very influential & creative playmaker in his own right

Gotta respect Olise's game, seems modest as well - what's not to like
Still applies and of course it isn't an act, it's a great aspect of his personality IMHO

I've been saying it before. Olise is a spectacular player but this nonchalant attitude may hurt him long term. Player who answers an interview like this can't be leader to no one. It's a shame because he is truly a world class talent, but if there comes a day where he is supposed to lead a team on his own... that will probably be very hard for him.

He can be a protagonist on the pitch without having to lead in any conventional way off or on the pitch, that can be the role of other leaders in the team

His talent, undeniable. His humility & desire to stay low key, also undeniable. I think we just enjoy trying to catch him in an act, except its not an act

This guy is actually something else; he should definitely be a top 3 player, but his name isn't mentioned despite having the most assists in a single World Cup, the most assists in the UCL, and the league last season, and also being part of the best team in the UCL and World Cup.

Also don't see him talking too much; probably needs that to promote his name

His goal range is also crazy; the hat-trick he scored was on point. I think he deserves an equal shout like Kane from Bayern. 68 g/a in official games from last season till now without pens is a crazy number for an attacker, and he's starting this season strongly
