Marcus Rashford

30M is a ‘fair’ price for a player of his quality & production but not a fair market value considering the leverage over ManYoo atm

Zero reason to overpay for him when ManYoo are stuck, milk it

I would be fine with another loan with similar terms. 14m salary is ok.

If we have to buy, his buyout has to drop to 20m, and he has to take another paycut of 2-3mil. Only then its a good deal.
Still not a good deal for a backup. You don't need to spend 20M in transfer fee and +10M a season salary for a guy known to be lazy once he gets his contract. You can win LL without Rashford as backup.

I could go either way on him. Wouldn't say the fee is the primary blocker even if we tried to bring it down.

His wages are the issue. Even if feasible, paying a backup more than a handful of starters dilutes the effects of the wage structure we're trying to enforce.

Exactly. If we sign him, the agents of players playing more than him, but are on lower/similar wages will knock on Laporta's door and demand a raise. Laporta worked hard to push down the wage structure in the last years, he shouldn't destroy it for a Rashford. United is looking for a sucker to load him off thanks to the wages they gave him after a good season, we shouldn't be that sucker.
He's not a bad player and has strengths, no other has in our team. But the complete package signing him is simply bad.

He earns more then double of what Fermin or Joan Garcia are getting, triple of Cubarsi , more then Pedri, Eric, Ferran, Gavi, Dani if we believe capology (it's not always true but they have the right general idea)...Everyone of them should be in Deco's office if he again gives that salary to Rashford.

Even this year's loan wasn't worth it from a financial perspective. Yes, he has good numbers, but mostly worthless or didn't make a big impact on our season's fortunes. Those who say he was clutch or important are deluded.

Think there is no way he returns to ManUtd after his recent statements.

Flick probably already decided he wants him to stay but now everything depends on negotiations.

Doesnt work like that though or they would all be in already asking for raise on the salaries of MATS, Fati or even Lewa getting twice as much as some of them.

Barca wont be paying him 14m anyway and if they pay that for a loan again it is poor business and more players pay a lot of money out for and have no value as an asset.

Lost too much on FFP with that already.

I'm really not sure we should sign him, but whatever happens, if he leaves he can leave with his head held very high and I will look as fondly at him as other great loans of the past like Luuk.

And it's not predominantly because he has been one of the greatest loan successes anywhere in football over the past few years, but mainly because he has been a completely different HUMAN BEING to the man that was at Man Utd.

He has humbled himself massively in his stint here and been nothing but professional and dedicated.

I never thought I'd ever say this when he was at Man Utd, but he comes across as a very likeable lad, I have to say.

All the best, whatever road you take.

Just send him back. Came here, won a league title, time to end the deal. It was always likely that it would last a season.

Deal worked for all parties. A permanent transfer only works for United and Rashford.

What stops Barca signing him for 30 with an agreement to restructure his contract to meet Barca needs? We win and Rashford gets to stay which is a win for him

I would offer him a maximum of €10 million plus €2 million in bonuses. That’s half of what he earns at United. He definitely won’t agree to that.

Another loan please, than we can look at a contract next summer...

Edit: I hope he stays, I like what he brings and I'm starting to like him as the person he's becoming with us :)

I think he should leave but considering that bringing a reliable backup option on the wings is an absolute must this summer, and I have no clue who could we sign if not for Rashford - maybe Rashy really is the best option.

We need someone we can confidently start in a big game if one of our wingers is injured. Rashy even with his off the ball problems is a player who has had huge moments at the top stage of Europe in his career.

Huh? He went bust vs AM at the level that would be the differentiating factor for us signing him long term. We can't fund this transfer for goals vs low level sides only.

Fact of the matter is when it was time for the big game, Flick benched him and played a midfielder off position. For this reason alone, the deal is a no go, Rashford is simply not cut out for the top level.

Yup, which is why I want him gone.

But who are the alternatives?

Do you think Abde or Victor Munoz would bury all those chances Rashford missed? Do you think they would even get in those positions?

He scored a superb free kick vs Real, won us the game vs Newcastle and scored vs Atletico in the league. That's just for us this season.

Over his career, he's had big performances vs the big 6 of PL and in UCL.

The only bonus with likes of Abde compared to Rashford is they would press.

But do you really exchange quality for pressing? Especially for a backup option?

Yeah, Newcastle in the lower pressure league phase. Madrid also. AM tie in CL with Raphinha out was his shot to convince us, he failed.

It's not as much about goals and impact, he simply doesn't work hard enough. Unless you're Messi, you run your socks off in the big games or stay out.

The other players we want to sign would fail even worse.

Rashford missed a lot of chances vs AM but to be completely fair, only the shot at start of the 1st leg was a fatal miss. Others were chances he fought well to get and, while he should have finished them, at least he got in those positions. He also hit the post from a freekick.

To me his only flaw is the lack of pressing. But we can deal with it. We already did this season. Much better than getting a backup who will press but unable to do anything on the ball when you need him.
