La Liga Round 35: Barca - Real 2-0 Campeoneees!!

Will be interesting to see how Flick lines the team up with Lamine’s continued absence. Roony has had two starts on the RW and while better in the last match, seems Hansi’s more pragmatic tactical setup to compensate for the lack of production on that right wing might see a change for Clasico

When Rashford came on, the conventional thinking was that he’d go left with Ferran central and Lewy coming off - instead he went to the right and kept Lewy on. Admittedly, Rashford’s pace & strength on the ball was useful as the game wore on against a tired defense but also it clearly caused some errors where he was afforded too much time & space to perfectly connect on that cross for the 1st goal

Would/could Hansi play Rashford & Raphinha together to start? Would Rashford play on LW and Raphinha back to his natural RW? I can only see Roony as an impact sub, at best. I see Fermin, Olmo & Gavi all playing ahead of him in a Clasico - as it should be, trust in La Masia for matches like these

Rashford - Lewy - Raphinha
Pedri - Frenkie - Gavi
Cancelo - Martin - Pau - Eric

Do Barca win the title with a draw? I'd bet on that as a result. Both sides have lots of players going to the WC and don't think there's any point in breaking sweat over a foregone conclusion anyway.

1. It's a clasico
2. Madrid will want to stop a potential 100pts season for Barca

Madrid has to win to maintain any hope.

Draw suffices for us.
There is no hope from Madrid. League is done, they're not stupid.

Only bragging rights remain, but since draw suits both teams we will probably see a stalemate.

Don’t think so. Plenty of players in their squad with the right mentality. Players get conditioned mentally to mostly think on a game to game basis. Everything else is irrelevant. So mentally they are probably now in mindset of “all we have to do is win our next game, everything else is out of our hands”.
Also, it is a clasico. They will get hyped up with things taking place on the pitch.

Also some players will use opportunity in mbappes absence to prove themselves and what they can do in right setup. Vini, Bellingham

Of course probability of us losing 3 games after already having lost clasico is astronomically small. When is last time barca lost 4 liga games in row?

Flick is gonna go hard on them. The match will be competitive. Yes, title is done, but they can't risk another humiliation. Don't think we start Raphinha with no actual minutes before this in over a month.

I would start Rashford though.

Yeah I hope Flick goes all in so no Roony pls. Start Fermin or Tuna on LW, Rashy on RW - than sub on Raphinha. Lewa should of course start, probably last BIG match for him in the Barca shirt.

Some people talk as if they've just started watching Barca. I don't remember any El Clasico where players "did not care".

Yeah, strange one by malvolio.

But it kind of has happened though.
One that comes to mind is the 4-0 win against Benitez’ Real. Real almost seemed to want to lose it so could get rid of Benitez.

Malvolio wants to be able to say 'Real didnt care' if Barca win and get 100 points.

Simples.

The lad hates Barca winning or getting any credit.

It'll be the last highlight of the season, the players will be fired up not to lose the second clasico this season and to win LaLiga in the Camp Nou. Rest of the games will be the exit lap of honor, where the players will protect themselves from injuries.

So expect and enjoy the last all-out game and let's win the league a second time in a row!

I hope for Rashford on the right, even if his pressing sucks. Roony doesn't have the quality to start a clasico. Also Mendy is injured again, so they'll be vulnerable there. Let's see if Rapha can make it to the starting lineup.

There was one though where our players basically didn’t care, it was 2015-16, 2nd Clasico, we were 39 matches unbeaten and it was our first game after the March 2016 international break. The first half was underwhelming and we didn’t create any chances besides Rakitic half chance and Suarez missing the ball completely. Second half after a brilliant shot from Messi and like 3 corners, we score and our entire game shuts off. We give Madrid too much respect and we try to play possession football to waste time but Madrid were very determined to get a result in the Camp Nou and they win 2-1. This result started a horrendous run of results which nearly took us from 2 trebles in a row to 0 major trophies but thankfully, we managed to salvage our form in the last 5 games of the season.

A Clasico is always significant, regardless of form or stakes - in this case, the equivalent of a CL Final for RM as they have yet again won zero trophies in the Flick era. Knowing La Liga title is once again out of reach, gaming a result in the last Clasico of the season would be an opportunity to shift the narrative of their failing project

On the flip side, Barça always values the Clasico and winning it is a big part of a successful season. This being the first time that a Clasico result could decide the title winners makes it even sweeter

RFEF will do everything in their power, per usual, to prevent further embarrassment which is also why I believe Flick & Barça recognize the significance of a title winning performance before home fans at Camp Nou

When the Clasico is played, the world watches

Consistent, as well

Club has no class or sportsmanship currency left in today's football - even in an era of manufactured VAR, playing the victim despite being the perpetrator (The Israel of football) has been exposed too frequently over past two seasons. Their mess is of their own doing and they look like they will just keep doing what they've always done, gaming the system and bringing it further into disrepute. You don't read about any tacticians or attacking football coaches linked to their vacant coach job, only nutters who can permit the inmates to run the asylum while manufacturing results

Per usual, the football will inspire no one of consequence
