Scores one goal in 20 matches and too small to play striker.
He's scored 18 goals from 45 games this season. 29 goals from 57 games last season. An impressive 16 CL goals from 22 games in an Atleti shirt.

But he's not really the profile that Barça need. Barcelona need a younger version of Lewandowski.

We don't necessarily need a striker who is capable of scoring headers. We need just as much someone who is capable of holding the ball, is capable of scoring from slight distance and more importantly is capable of making runs go beat defenders in races for the ball and score when Yamal dishes out those trivelas.

Now I don't pretend I have followed Alvarez too much to know if he is that type of player but at the same time I don't see us needing another Lewa type of player. Players like David Villa and Suarez have worked for us and they are not known for their header capablities even though Suarez was no stranger to scoring those.

And current market is full of players like Lewa was 10 years ago...

I think his playstyle and demeanor just suits Barcelona. I fancied him since the '22 World Cup. Humble kid, perseverant, runs a lot, plays well in important games.

I have not followed him enough to determine how good he is, probably isn't going to be an all-timer ala Suarez/Lewandoski, but he just seems to be a proper fit for the club - culturally and in terms of playstyle.

He would be a good player here but not worth the insane price tag. Atletico would want somewhere in the 80-100 mill range for him

I still believe Osimhen is a better option than Alvarez but holy damn bring me any of these two and I will be more than satisfied

Alvarez is an insane footballer and among the very best strikers on the planet. His ceiling is even higher, as he's playing in a side way below his level

His lack of aerial threat is a big miss but also the only miss. There will be thousands of other ways Yamal snd company will create chances for this guy. Not to mention he's also one of those strikers more than capable of creating for themselves too

I am in principle, against any transfers with Cerezo & Atletico but Alvarez is perhaps the ideal #9 in Flick's tactical setup. Elite pressing forward & positional versatility makes him a master of triggering team-wide traps. Vertical, great goalscoring instincts, excellent in link up play across forward line and probably the best pressing forward currently in the game

A 100M or more though? Even if we theoretically have earmarked as much (Perhaps Torres going in the other direction to bring the fee down) but again bailing out Rojiblancos is something I would rather avoid - we have only been fleeced in dealings with them

But, the Argentine is as logical a fit for this Barça as is Bastoni - they seem like the most obvious targets but both will be complex transactions irrespective of 1:1. When you have been saving money for years and chomping at the transfer bit to land targets worthy of Barça, would hate to see us blow our load recklessly. Yet, these two alone may be enough to really elevate Barça from the rest of football

I wouldn't compare him to Torres since Torres is heavily carried by our midfield and Yamal and how we play the game in general. I have seen this guy score goals in clutch moments in a fashion most strikers can only dream of. I'm sure he would be a great addition to team if our finances allow it.

Can he give us 30+ goals a season ? For that amount of money he should. Also, our main striker targets are totally different types. He has better link up and but Halland has better finishing. Osimhen also lacks passing but has that Ferranlike instinct and pressing. I feel like this is not the right time to drop 100+ mils.
