Would you sign Alvarez?

He's not the perfect player for us on paper. But when you see the situations Ferran ends up in during games, you think a player like Alvarez would do much better with the ball both in terms of linkup and finishing. It's only a question of Alvarez having the proper movement of a number 9 to make use of our attacking creativity.

With that said, I wonder if it's all just media bullshit or if his name is actually on our list. Because there is no realistic chance of us signing him unless there is an affordable buyout clause which I doubt. Atleti can easily tell us 150m or fuck off, and they can do it next year and also the year after that. His name should be discarded early, if it already hasn't been.
Tbh, i feel atleti would demand fermin plus 50m or similar shit. They are not taking ferran and 50m.

Reactions: R9.
First it was PSG and Atleti negotiating with price tag being demanded 150m+.

Now reports are PSG are out of the race. He is definitely too expensive and not leaving this summer.

I mean it is obvious he is not that worth and Atletico does not want to sell him after 2 seasons. Great news.

Wow, well that'll keep us away luckily... I hope!

Yeah I was talking about when he moved to City which was the same time we bought Ferran….
You bring up a great point about what a great deal he was for City. I believe they purchased him from River Plate for around 21m euros and resold him for ~95m.

With that said, Ferran has had a great season. A period of inconsistency, sure, but he's more than redeemed himself with his 21 goals, 2 assists.

Still we shouldn't go into next season with him as starter... at least get somebody decent enough to rotate with.

I think the plan (if we really get to 1:1 and sell some players which is a big IF) was to try to convince Alvarez that he wants to come here, him putting pressure on Atleti and try to get something like 75 + bonuses over the line. The idea is very similar to what they tried with Diaz last summer. The problem in that strategy is that we are not the only club who wants these players and just as Bayern took Diaz because they had more money, the same is happening with Alvarez and PSG.

Even if PSG doesn't buy him in the end it's getting clear that Atleti are serious about demanding a fee well over 100 mil, that's impossible for us. I hope Deco turns to other targets soon.

Sounds like Simeone already given up

Simeone: “His future? He’s old enough to know what he wants to do and I imagine he has already made his decision”.

Dont even think Simeone would be that adverse to him leaving.

Hasnt set the world on fire at Atleti and isnt a CF to lead the line.

Aggressive CFs that can lead the line are what have been the most effective under him.

But they will try to maximize it and point him to PSG most likely.

He's probably already on his way somewhere else if we're being realistic. We don't have the FFP ready to be able to compete with PSG or any Premier League teams if they have already made bids for him.

Media are talking of a cold relationship between him and Simeone. If true he will surely leave. I don't think Simeone likes players who don't want to be there and fight for Atletico.

I can absolutely understand Alvarez. He joined Atletico to get a starter position in some top club, get out of Haaland's shadow and prove the world what he can do. 2 seasons is absolutely enough. Now time to move on.

He can join PSG but then he will be back to City days and in Dembele's shadow. In Barça he will be guaranteed starter and probably main goalscorer with superb creativity everywhere around him.

But the most important thing here is if we can afford him.
