Simeone made it clear his plan was to sell him but he is forced to keep him and now they need to protect him from the mobs I guess. Or the Yanks might come to realize that selling him is the right deal. Getting a profit on a blunder is rare

He had the opportunity to wait at City, we are too invested in this stories about players. You don't set a 500 mil clause if you plan to hop in to Barcelona. Clearly his low numbers and meaningless trophies are a better argument for why he wants to leave and changed his mind.
 
All of this probably indicates he has no future in Atletico. Punishing him for his comments in WC makes no sense since not playing him in preseason would only hurt the team’s preparation for the season since you want your star player to be as ready as possible for the season opener.

Either they sell him to somewhere else or they open discussion with Barca at the last possible moment leaving no room for negationing price and giving us least time possible to have him ready for our games.

Shipping him to other league is the most likely outcome.

I don't read so much into the clause, cause it's more about the main Club having full power over your transfer so that they can dictate terms.

We started putting a billion clause on many of our players after PSG paid Neymar's release clause back then, so we could also hold more power in dictating terms and selling players when we want, so Athletico did their homework on Alvarez

Not only him, also Rodri refused to travel to Community Shield according to City sources:

Playing tough guy against Barca so that RM profits is retard logic by them.

ATM aren't Barca rivals in any shape or form. If Barca is in a shitty period and RM happens to be in a shitty period at the same time, they might fluke a league once every decade. If they have a player who asks to leave and Barca is paying an appropriate sum, might as well sell to Barca and lower the chances of their city rivals from winning.

Well most of them wanted to stay in Barcelona so hence why they accepted. I mean we literally force people to leave. Neymar was an exception not seen from Figo, Dembele runned his contract to the end. I just stated my opinion, we shouldn't get emotionally entangled and in a rivalry with the Yanks. Let them be.
 
I'm against a player forcing his way out of a club. Atletico is not some kind of golden prison like a Saudi club. Julian is a sane person and signed this longterm contract. If Atletico don't want to sell him it is their right.

IMHO there is way too much smoke around this guy for what he offers. He is not next R9. Yeah, he runs and presses a lot and has a good shot. He doesn't have the grit to play for a club like Barça though. He is soft. He comes across as Felix 2.0. I repeat: He doesn't have the grit to play for Barça.

Playing 9 for Barça is one of the hardest things to do against good teams, because good teams have world-class CBs who can easily disconnect the 9 from the rest of the team. Lewa, Suarez, 2 of the best strikers of their generation got criticised heavily by our fans. And you guys think this soft guy would justify a 120M+ price tag? No fucking way. Stay away.

Haaland, a player who many would like here (btw also the main reason why Julian left City) didn't manage to score a single goal for City in all of the finals they played with him. And you think the City reject guy at Atletico is the 9 for Barça?

Honestly, of course I would like Barça to sign a 9, but with all the available options and the money involved I would prefer another loan, at which department the club is doing a fine job lately.

All of this talk about a 9 with Deco probably chilling in his office, laughing at all the rumours while having communicated already a month ago internally that Bisiwu and Hamza are the replacements for Lewa and Ferran. :tata:
 
They're cowards, fearing a strong reaction from the home fans that could put up pressure in the last days of the transfer window. So they rather hide him until the window is closed.

This has to be one of the worst cases of a club's treatment of a player that I have ever seen.. A total PR desaster and for what? Just to make a point? They started good memeing Barca and Madrid early in the window. Now it ends with them being a meme :lol: .
 
Gordon is a good player, but I'm not at all convinced we can go into a season with him as our first choice striker and a Juvenil kid as the backup.

Hopefully we see some very quick movement on other targets, because there is less than 2 weeks until the window shuts.
