Huge blunder if true. In 2023, Julian was already twice the player Ferran was. You didn’t need to be some elite scout to see it, especially after the World Cup he’d just had.

My mistake, I didn’t add that it was in the 2021 season. That was 10 months before the World Cup. Of course they wouldn’t have sold him for 20 million after that World Cup.

We have already done business with them before, so this hate thing is nonsense, they are our rivals and do not want to further strengthen us by selling their best players.
 
I don't blame him nor Atleti. Atleti actually did us a favour by making it CATEGORICALLY CLEAR FROM DAY ONE that they would not sell him to us, as is their right to, for any of their contracted players.

Julian didn't push because he is smart enough to know that pushing wouldn't have had any effect on matters, bar making things considerably worse for himself. It's easy to ask him to make himself persona non grata at Atleti when there are zero consequences our side.

Man up, we fucked up by not moving away when they told us to, and wasting our whole transfer window on a pipe dream that was never going to happen.
 
Apparently club will wait 2-3 more days and that is the latest deadline, which will become another 1-2 days and then another day and then media will be reporting "Barca are still waiting for Julian" one hour before the window shuts.

It is time to move on. As post above says, they told us no very early on, then they told us no again and then no again, I've lost count. I do believe Deco has been working on alternatives with how he's been moving in this window.
 
I think we will sign striker this week and maybe try get a CB next, if there's any interesting options. And that will be it for this window.

The alternatives to Alvarez are probably ready and think those deals will be done in Gordon/Adeyemi fashion, rather than Rodri or Cancelo.

Try to remember what Modric did when Real came knocking on his doors. It's not even comparable. Alvarez gave only one statement: "I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer" and that's it. Not even nearly enough for a player who has a long term contract and wants to go. That being said it's over and we need to move on.

The best scenario is for Alvarez to have a poor, unmotivated season, lose his spot in the squad, and then come to us next season for 50 million.

We wont be in a position to spend 50m next season, by the looks of it.

And I wouldnt want to do business with any LaLiga teams anymore. Knowing these bitches, they would still demand 100m+ for him.

So no. As I have said it ealry during the start of this saga, he has made his bed, now let him lie in it.
If it was his "Dream" to play for us? No one forced him to sign a 500m buyout contract.
If it was ATM lack of trophies? He should have known better before choosing a team. Simeone's 15 yrs in ATM has resulted in 6 trophies.
If it was the style of football? Ya should have known better again.

Next step for him is to sack his Agent, and hope for the best he gets one that ateast makes better calls.

We can spend it, but we won't be able to register him... revenue down due to us moving back to Montjuice = less FFP space and we're already tight.
