Realistically, he is not going to force his way out by refusing to play. He also has a reputation and value to protect.

His value and resume would sink drastically if he started refusing to play/train etc. This season is actually very important for him, and when it starts, it should be like any other, because if he has a repeat of 8 LL goals top teams will lose interest in him.

Therefore its important for him to keep playing well, although his morale may naturally be affected.

We now need a plan B if we can't work out a top tier signing. We are no longer in a position to at least use Torres.

He don't need to refuse to play or train, but he can make a public statement.

Make it known to the world that he want to leave and join Barca.

At some point Atletico will have no choice but to sit down with us if he does that because the situation would become too toxic for them to keep him against his will then.
