Atletico can keep him around until 2030 expiry of contract. All they have to do is act professional on a player they paid 90m and pay salary. Nothing indicates they are going to soften their approach and concede on humanitarian grounds to sell a player to their rival club, whom they took to court previously with Griezmann.

Alvarez decides to walk out of his contract with Atletico - then he owes the club whatever the Spanish judge rules in "damages".

Why Verratti backed off and fired his agent - he saw the implications of acting unprofessional and how detrimental it would be to his career, at prime.
 
Gordan can play as the striker from time to time. He is pretty comfortable up there, I could see him playing minutes there in the easier La Liga games especially.

That's only possible, if Alvarez reconciles. They can't keep him long-term in the current status quo. Football is business first, not ego. There are too many downsides. Losing market value, losing the support of the fans, the unity of the dressing room.

Do you know any example of a club keeping a player long-term who wanted out? Not examples where players changed their opinions later obviously.

I think Earl will be fed up of Man City by then, if he isn't already, and there's no other place for him. He ain't a Real Madrid kind of guy and he won't want to share his goals with Mbappe.

Not in recent memory and a player making public announcement he wants to leave. Most of those happened behind closed doors.

He loves Spain though. Always in Marbella whenever he got the chance.

Zidane with Juventus in 2001. Wanted to move and Juventus mafia tried to persuade him in some ways.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a verbal agreement with Sir Alex, which was respected for a reasonable price.
 
He loves football more than he hates atletico or loves Barca, so he’ll play for them again, maybe untill winter or who knows.

So we're winging it for two years with the expectation that we get Haaland? In two years Madrid might get fed up with Vini and try a Mbappe-Haaland-Dyomande trident.

If he doesnt leave now, then he'll most likely have to fire his agent and apologize, and all should be good again.

If he wanted Barca from the get go, then he shouldn't have signed that contract with the release clause to become the main franchise player and all, and expect them to sell him to us easily.
