Lets say he grows into being a 25m player. I think that's his ceiling at Ajax.
That gives us about 12m back, so in total we might make about 17m for him.

It would depend on what the buyback clause is, if its anything around 10m, this is a good enough deal for us. Both parties are not losing money in this, while having less to profit from.
Now if he flops, we made 5m, which is what we would have made it anyways, while Ajax didnt overpay.

And this should be the model for Masia & Academy graduates going ahead.

Jofre has potential to make it back here. So good we keep options on him. He is closer to the Cucu/Grimaldos than the Miranda's level wise.

In general we somehow produce very good leftbacks over the last decade. Cucu, Grimaldo, Balde are all at the top three in LaLiga now.

Shame we can't recreate that with righties.

Pesquer is the new flavour of the month, and will get some time at the B. More technically gifted but looks like size may be a limiting factor going forward. Another of those who looks like a midfielder playing at fullback.

Works at a level but extremely difficult at the top level where you need that extra speed if lacking in build.

And if he amounts to something, we can get him back within 4 years. Or might get 50% of his sale value. While we dont have to pay his wages, have in occupying a spot, have Cancelo ahead of him for atleast 2 years, and we also got another academy player in Caicedo who might be good too. This is a good way to create enough time to evaluate both.

Far better to get 5m now than the deal folk were trying to make out made sense the other day.

That deal would have been a very poor one.
 
The 5m is said to be with easy to achieve variables.

Now that sounds feckin awful. But the elephant in the room could be that Madrid are selling players with these too but making it contractually stipulated not to be reported.
 
Decent sale, basically a valuation of 12 mil euros (6 mil euros and maintaining 50% of future sales) - could be looking at a player worth 20 mil euros with a decent season at Ajax. They can always keep him, but if he is a Albert Moreno type who goes to PL we could look at a decent bonus income as well. Not bad, not great.
