Harry Kane

So far, I am honestly impressed by Harry, even though, I am not his fan by any means....The guy does not disappoint when he's needed the most.
That's exactly where Lewandowski was deficient when Poland played in Euros and WCs - I sadly have to admit. True enough, Poland ain't England...but look at Norway and Haaland...he delivers at the most critical moments too.

Norway is clearly better than every Poland team RL9 has ever played in except maybe 2016 when RL9 turned up big time.

Characters like Glik and Krychowiak were lazy alcoholics who used to spoil the professional environment of the NT during big tournaments.

Despite all of that, RL9 has scored against the likes of France, Portugal, Sweden and Spain in big tournaments with whatever opportunities he had.

If RL9 was German, Argentine, Spanish or Brazillian, he'd be a World Cup winner.

And both Haaland and Kane are infamous for ghosting in knockout stages unlike RL9 whose knockout stage record is the best after Ronaldo and Messi.

Fair.
However...
I can't forget the needed win at Euros 12 vs Czechs or something more where he was at his peak in Russia 18.
I think the Polish team between 16 - 20 was most talented since 70s. The opportunity wasted.

2018 WC is the one where the squad was out drinking and partying during the WC. Think they recieved a lot of criticism in the press for that. There was a whole civil war within the squad because RL9 was pissed off at his extremely unprofessional teammates.

Even Prime Maradona would win the square root of fuckall with such a squad.

Honestly, I had no clue of them partying like that in Sochi...lol
Suprised because their coach Nawalka was a strict and firm disciplinary man.
If that's the case shame on them then....

Ok, my rants about England made it like there are no proper English men.
But this guy staying on the bench in a stat padding fest is a testimony that it's not all lost.

Must be the only guy who’s a contender who hasn’t yapped about this award at any point

Other than Messi ofc but Messi already has 8 of these lying around somewhere

I say give it to Harry.

Some players deserve the ballon d'or just to seperate them from the rest and embrace their uniqueness. Rodri is an example.

Kane is another example. A ridiculously complete striker and footballer all around.

Kane is the only one I can accept getting it if it's not Yamal. Because according to some real standards the way they should be, Kane is the rightful winner. But I think by standards set by the ballon d'or, where trophies hold the biggest influence, Yamal deserves it.

Nope...
Kane ain't the guy...nothing extra spectacular to tip the scale. I'd rather give it to Yamal, even though it could spoil the kid completely.

Maybe if they came up with a life long achievement category then I wouldn't mind but there are others for that too.

Nothing spectacular? He beat Lewandowski's best scoring season from 19/20, the season everyone agree he deserved the Ballon d'Or. And also equaled CRs best scoring season ever. These things don't happen very often.

The record of goals scored across all the competitions: Bundesliga, Federation Cup, CL is a record but not as meaningful - prestigious - as the Bundesliga's record of 41 goals still held by Lewandowski, which had been previously held by Gerd Muller. That's what counts towards the Golden boot award and how you compare goal scoring across the leagues.

Still, this ain't the track and field for the records to be of a decisive matter for this award.

I don't want to diminish his achievements, I'd give him the best striker of the year award. And maybe the gentleman on the pitch award, if they came up with something like that too.

I've said it another thread but this year is not a normal year to pick Ballon d'Or winner as the big trophy winners don't have clear candidates. You have to compromise to pick the winner.

This also but it's not what I meant. Kane plays in Bundesliga so the goalscoring records always come with a little question mark. Not because the league is so bad but because tactically speaking it's probably easiest to score in (but also easy to concede, because most teams are great offensively).

It's more about the way he is ever present on the pitch, even in the biggest games. And contributes everywhere. His passing and tech are not normal for a striker. He is very special in this regard.

Mbappe and Yamal have already seperated themselves from everyone and they don't need a ballon d'or for that. It would be a cherry on top for them. And they are much younger so will have more chances.

Though Yamal is the rightful winner, Kane winning it would not be a shame. He had a very good season.

The difference here is again between who had the best individual season and who won the most prestigious trophy. In previous editions, like last year when Yamal lost, the voters have gone for the latter. No idea why the confusion now. But if they want to change the criteria, it's ok.

I have no beef with Harry Kane but to me he is a little too gentlemanly for a footballer...
I never saw him push, punch or swear. No enough testosterone...

Just kidding...

Either way, even if they gave it to Harry, so be it. I am not jumping off the bridge to manifest my dissent. I'd congratulate him. Let's leave it at that.
