While chasing Alvarez all summer hinted at this, now Gabriel Jesus cements that Flick moves away from the concept of target man no.9 in favor of fake 9. Wasn't hard to notice in the last couple of season how detached Lewa was from the team play, only acting as finisher and contribute nothing else.

Because there are literally only 2 worldclass traditional 9s right now with Lewandowski leaving European football. Kane and Haaland and both out of reach for us or anybody else for that matter. A bad generation for traditional strikers currently.

UCL league phase is glorified friendlies at this point. Who tf cares if you play 2 extra games. Big deal. PSG did it in both their winning campaigns.

It's more a matter of prestige and gauging the team's current state. We cannot draw conclusions from matches like the last three.

I see he was dissatisfied with the chaotic element of the game. He should be.

We wouldn't suddenly lose our attacking power if we'd show more control and not let any team have a go directly on our backline time and time again. It would just unlock the next and final level of his project here.
