Hansi Flick

According to Fab it's Flick who said no to Romero.

Interesting. I wonder if the case is that he doesn't prioritize a defender signing at all, or he simply doesn't rate this particural player.

If it's the first option, I believe Hansi has made a mistake here. Surely he knows he can't rely on Martin. He probably knows he can't rely on Christensen either with his fitness problems. Araujo just left, it's a messy situation for LCB spot.

It is also possible he wants the club to finish striker signing first, because practically all reports have indicated that Hansi really wants a new striker and not some false 9 bullshit.
Would rather play Martin than have Romero.

I approve Hansi.

I am not too sure who calls shots here to procure transfers: Flick himself or a sport director but one thing missing here is maturity. A player or two over 30 - squad leaders, not only on the pitch but in the locker room to offer a voice of reason and cool down emotions when needed. Motivate.

He literally said that's what the team is messing in Europe last season In a post match interview.

"We miss/need a leader on the field"

Makes sense why he jumped at the opportunity to sign rodri.

Our players who played WC or had high gametime

Cubarsi - 4k minutes in Club + 750min in WC - 4.7k minutes total.
Kounde - 3.5k + 6min WC - 4.1k min total
Eric - 4k min Club + WC
Pedri - 3.1k club + 500min WC - ~3.6k min total
Olmo - 2.8k club + 600min WC - 3.4k min total
Rodri - 2k club + 700min WC - 2.7k
FDJ - 2.5k club + 350min WC - 2.8k total
Yamal - 3.7k club + 600min WC - 4.3k mnin total
Gordon - 2.7k club + 400min WC - 3.1k total

I would seriously consider starting players without WC games initially. Then slowly reintroduce others.

Tek
Cancelo - Christinsen - Martin - Balde
Bernal - Fermin - Gavi
Adeyemi - ST - Rapha

This team is good enough to play every minute available till Nov-Dec. I dont want Cuba, Kounde, Eric, Pedri, Olmo, Yamal to have gametime anywhere close to any of the above mentioned players when we reach Nov-Dec. Ideally, it should be 3-4x less the amount of gametime.

IMO this is the only way we make sure our team is fresh & firing in all cylinders come March crunch time.

Would love to see all three of Rodri, Pedri, and de Jong on the field. With Olmo/Fermin as the CF.

Midfield diamond as in the old days of Fabregas & Messi.
Lamine & Gordon providing width, but with insane cutting-in capabilities.

Could be diabolical against teams with low blocks. Olmo's ability to shimmy through tight spaces, FDJ's dribbling ability, Pedri's vision. With Rodri you dont have to worry too much about counters, Balde/Cancelo can bomb forward, giving width while Gordon/Raph try to penetrate through the sides.

Bordalas, here we come.

Joan? Tek won't play unless absolutely necessary.

The WC players will be fine. At most they will need to be rotated until September NT break.

Other than that there will be natural rotations depending on form and style. Flick doesn't have a preferred XI yet and it will take time to find out who gels with who, and we have a lot of games ahead to do just that. Only players I see starting almost every game are Lamine and Cubarsi.

Flick and rotations.

Dont mind Joan, as he's a GK on the bench for the NT.

I just dont want Flick to have any excuse to rotate heavily this season. Our "2nd" team is good enough for LaLiga.
Its better to go with PSG strategy than the other, when UCL is the trophy we are aiming for this season.
