Controversial? No. Debatable? For sure.
Xavi won LL with a worse squad than Flick, considering Yamal wasn't at the level he showed after the Euros.
I'm pretty sure both Pep and Lucho would have won a league title in the context of the past 2 years.
It's a bit far fetched to say Flick sent RM packing when they imploded by themselves this season. It all started with Flo not wanting Xabi as coach but eventually being persuaded to sign him. They were in turmoil all season long and it was also confirmed by them imploding in Copa and CL, were they didn't have to face us.
Lucho could have also won an Euro with Spain, if it weren't for Donnarumma.
Flick positives: plays attacking football, raised the level of several bums in the squad, has a system that works well with current squad. Flick negatives: stubborn to changes, mediocre results in Europe where we have 1 noticeable win in 2 years, i still don't know how good he is a spotting talent.
Another thing that Flick didn't face at Barca is adversity from players/squad. Lucho and Pep had to work with absolute legends, who weren't nice to them the whole time.

The dressing room was in chaos under Xavi btw and multiple players were asking to leave because of him.
It's easy to say with hindsight 'RM imploded by themselves' after Barca win and Madrid do poorly but part of it is taking advantage when your opponents aren't in their best shape.
Hard to really know how Lucho or Pep would do here, I agree they'd likely win at least one league title, but they could also not win one at all, it's not as easy as you seem to think. Bad runs of form can happen under any manager.
I'm also sure Flick wouldn't mind having to work with absolute legends... I think whatever dressing room problems he faced would be outweighed by the quality of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc.

Of course we're talking about it in hindsight. Madrid had all the tools to win, yet it turned into a circus for them. Flick still did very good domestically.
What's hard to really know? Both Pep and Lucho are top tier managers and regarded everywhere as better than Flick. Who wouldn't bet they win a league or two? After all only real competition is Madrid.
Of course he wouldn't mind, but those legends have more mood swings and can get you fired - see Madrid this year. It's harder to manage egos of that level.

Considering we were still playing 37 year old Lewa... Xavi had the 'fresh' version which actually carried him a bit in LL.
Only real argument is that Yamal was still developing but could easily add that the more attacking tactics have showcased him better.
However we did in CL, Barca under Flick still has the best results in Europe probably at Barcelona after PSG and Arsenal. Up there with Bayern, a quarter and a semifinal in 2 years. Both lost to Inter when shouldn't have.
So, if you reckon we were mediocre, then only PSG and Arsenal are good. Rest had problems. Inter had a good season and a shite one, City two crap ones, knocked out by the same Madrid we dominated in Spain and won almost all games against. And so on.
Knocking out one of the top 3-4 sides from CL is difficult for all sides, not just Barcelona.

Thing is in two seasons played under him, we took only one important scalp - Bayern at home in league stage last season. The rest of results vs big names are not in our favor.

Time flies, I can’t believe we are already entering into his 3rd season with the club. The most he has ever managed with a club since Hoffenheim between 2000 and 2005. Hopefully, we do well in the UCL this season and win our 3rd consecutive LaLiga title which would be our 30th title in total.

Don't think we have the squad to justify winning the CL as an expectation going into the season. We're fielding a backline of Kounde / Eric, Pau, Martin, and Balde, with Araujo always ready to step in and fuck things up.
Flick did well enough, our exits were close which happens when you're up against good sides. And I doubt any coach would have done much better.
Another thing I like about him is that he's an upstanding professional who's in control of tensions and drama, making the press around the club almost boring to follow. We've rarely seen that kind of stability at Barca. Long may it continue.

That's right, and if you take important scalps in CL, you usually win the competition. There's no big names around atm apart from 2-3 sides at best. Is City a big name? This Madrid trashed them twice in back to back seasons.
Most of the bigger sides have problems themselves. It's a funny period where most big sides are looking to change things up.

Mediocre results in Europe? You can say they are not too impressive but absolutely not mediocre. SF and QF is probably what you would expect if someone told you we would play with this defense and get a red card in both legs of the QF tie.
His stubborness as you call it is the very embodiment of original Barça spirit. Play football no matter what and always win with football. Sometimes it costs you but it is ultimately what made Barca what it is.
Doing well in the CL depends on whether we sign quality defenders. ideally, the money spent on Gordon should have gone to a Schlotterbeck, VDV or similiar type CB plus a left back. Depending on likes of Christensen, Martin and Araujo would result in failure again. Even LL will be tough this year with both RM and Athleti strengthening.
His prime version was scary but current Mou shouldnt be a problem for Mr.Hansi

But Carlo tried this in Supercup final and it worked for first 10 minutes. Then they conceded 4 in a half. And if not for Szczesny red would suffer their biggest ever humiliation
So I don't fancy his chances. So far over these 2 seasons under Flick every team that beat us put immense effort in order to do it. Constant running, closing down, tracking back. For this Madrid already looks unlikely. And very few of them sat back.
But even if they beat us in el clasicos, there is 36 other league games.
