Hansi Flick

No, it was not great football. It was good attacking but absolutely SHITE defending. Just like Flick would be coaching both teams.

Fine to watch as a neutral but I don't want my team to play like that all the time. One or two games like this in the league are ok but not when it matters the most because you can't always count your attack will score 3 or 4 against serious opponents and a 5-4 win can easily turn into a 4-0 loss.

Another difference is we were conceding 4 goals against Inter fielding a bunch of semi-retired players not vs a top team like PSG/Bayern. If we would play either of those teams this season we would probably see the repeat of 8-2.

Another thing to be noted is there is no way they would be playing like that especially Luis if they has just fought their way back in a game and needed to hold out for 5 minutes to make a final.

Adjustments would be made.

None of those two Managers are committed to what we saw yesterday to the very end.

Wouldnt even take that to be competitive and would be nothing like the 8-2.

Last season probably not because offside trap (only way Flick knows to defend) was still working but this season it wouldn't be pretty.

And I'm affraid next season will be even worse. But ofc people will blame it on the players rather than system.

Yeah, it was an off day for PSG. I don't know about Bayern because I don't really watch them in Bumsiliga but I assume in serious games they are also not often in a position to concede 4 or 5 goals.

What happened to the great defences and defenders of the past?Nowadays no modern team can really shut down a game after a lead. It seems to be a lost art.
Funny how all the Lucho lovers have become so defensive after PSG concede 4 goals at home.

Who is defensive? I said they defended like Flick's team.

Yea Luis is probably losing his shit to the team after giving up a 3 goal lead.

Flick would tell them go job, we'll run it back Tomorrow again.

Folk realise what Flicks football leaves the midfield and defence exposed to and comment on individual performances within that.

Bayern full backs were shit yesterday also in particular.

It is the same with the attacking players.. folk realise how 'inflated' their stats can be in comparison to more balanced approach as Flick gives up a lot in other areas to try and outscore teams.

Flick football would get closer to what would probably be its best variant if he could understand that a 3rd midfielder is essential to control games better vs very dangerous sides in transitions. It is not an offensive penalty to do that, maybe he will be prepared to try it in the near future.

As you noticed as well last night, Bayern settled better when Musiala, who is a liability defensively in midfield, got subbed for a more imposing, stronger box to box type. This is what we need also. Having the no9 to drop more often in CAM positions, and use a proper 3 man midfield. Not all the time, but there are many moments in big games where it would work better.

The 3rd midfielder thing is something I highlighted last season.

I'll mini repeat what I said. Gavi is the best solution to that in the AM position even though he's not an AM, he can do the job there, but more importantly he can drop back into Midfield more comfortably than olmo or fermin.

Seems flick was on to it in pre season, so we'll see next season.

I think it is unlikely he is gonna change. IIRC he used 4 forwards at Bayern also. Lewa, Gnabry, Muller and and Coman (or Perisic). Plus a super offensive Alfonso Davies.

Good post, Bayern mid with Kimmich, Pavlovic doesn't look very flashy but protect defense better in crazy high line up.

You can't play someone who never scores or asists as a 10 regularly. When you try to close the game and keep the ball without playing risky someone like Gavi could be a smart substitution in the third midfield spot but that phase of the game doesn't exist in Flick's mind.

We need a Yaya Toure from 2009 to return to 433 which would be the best for the balance of the team and would be the best system for Pedri but that's not gonna happen under Flick. Selling Olmo/Fermin and getting Rodri would allow us to be flexible between double or single pivot but that's too much activity for our SD to handle. His maximum is extending a couple of youngsters contracts and call it a success.

Marginally. Not a good look on Bayern when this Madrid could have put easily 5 past you at home. On top of those 3 goals scored, Vinicius hit the post, Mbappe missed a sitter, and there were 2 other serious chances. In fact, their 4-3 win vs Madrid is almost 1 to 1 to our 4-3 vs Madrid in the league, except Lamine is a greater creator than anything Bayern have.

PSG play different. Whoever didn't see the difference between PSG and Bayern styles last night doesn't know much about the game.

Last season's PSG would have sentenced the tie last night.

They look a bit like 2015-16 Barca vs 2014-15. Not as good organization and lost quite a lot in defense. And Donnarumma was no1 keeper in Europe in their CL run. He made some truly great saves at big moments. This Safonov guy is a massive downgrade as well. Overall, clearly not as solid in midfield and in defense. Missing an in form Fabian also.

Bayern defense only has one player who could truly walk into ours. Upamecano. If you'd swap Upamecano with Araujo we'd beat them more often than not.

If we'd play vs Bayern 10 games, whoever has more inspired attackers wins. I go with Yamal and Raphinha over Olise and Diaz on equal fitness and freshness. Kane is more of a factor in more settled games. He will come in handy vs AM or Arsenal if they make it, not as much in these crazy end to end games.

Completely agree, I also mentioned yesterday: watch Bayern, PSG plays differently but I actually think Bayern was a better team. And yes, RM almost knocked them but that is why, unlike many I see, I am actually more optimistic then not: whit small tweaks I think we can challenge. And some additions of course.

Harry Kane makes a big difference
And Madrid made a huge mistake not going on for him

We have to thank them

Kane makes a big difference in some games. But he is far from a big pressing player, his pace is mediocre... it's not all advantages. Age wise, he is oldish. When we signed Lewa he was 34. Kane will be 33 in a few months.

Thats true but his insane link up play would massively boost Mbappe's strenghts who could play as LW and then get fed from Harry passes.

But hard pass for him, buying old players rarely work well

Kimmich? Are you sure? Guy is brilliant in the offense but in defence very meh, have seen it once again vs PSG

Bayern's biggest advantage is the front trio which is the best itw, a lot of individual brilliance which rescues them often, we had the same fortune with a Raphi in god-mode, in-form Lewy/shark version of Ferran + Lamine but this season 2/3 are way below their usual lvl
