I gotta admit that after his poor tenure at the helm of the German NT, I thought that he'd fail miserably at Barca. Quite the positive surprise that he's been doing so good. Hope he keeps this up, wins some more trophies and then manages to retire on a high note.

- 107 games (81-10-16)
- ppg = 2,36 (3rd best of all Barca coaches with at least 50 games; on level with Guardiola)
- win% = 75% (home record: 43-4-5 ; win% = 82%)
- goals: 301:125 (reaching 300 goals in 107 game = same as Luis Enrique)
- scored in 103 of those 107 games (96%)
- clean sheets: 37 (34%)
- best goal scorers: Lewa (59), Raphinha (53), Lamine Yamal (39), Ferran Torres (35), Dani Olmo (20), Fermin Lopez (20)
- in knockout ties (including finals): advancing/winning 16 ; not advancing/losing 2
- unbeaten after international breaks (7-1-0)
- scored in each of last 51 La Liga games (= 2nd longest run ever after 63 scoring league games in 2012/2013)
- 15 consecutive homewins in La Liga this season (equalling Guardiola run in 2010/2011)

We just made the same type of errors we make every time. And we found a team who was clinical and made zero errors in defense. We tried to score, but without our clutch player, it wasn't to be. Move on and win the league, make it a good season.

Dominated first half until the red and most of the second half even with a man down. I won't blame Flick for tonight at all. Cubarsi and Rashford, maybe the most reponsible for this result. Cubarsi for being naive vs such a dirty player and Rashford for being wasteful. Yamal was trying too much, Olmo lacked creativity and the usual players were shit. One player I expected more from was Joan think he could have done more on both goals but he has saved us many times this season and maybe it's just unrealistic to expect such things from someone who plays his first season in CL.

2-0 but this is far from over. Atleti proved in CDR game and also vs Tottenham that mentally they are fragile. We need every player at his best and if finishing is as bad as today it's definitely game over.

He has to play a 18 yo and a guy who would never get a chance in Barca history as starting CBS. Because we are broke.
Played far far better than opponent who btw. vastly outspends us but individual mistakes and luck pushed Atletico.

Maybe we could have played more conservative but then there's a good argument to be made that those same CBS would come under even more pressure and thus more opportunities for mistakes.

Atletico wasn't even trying second half, shocking display for a team with one man advantage.
Then again, Simeone got the result he wanted.
We could have been luckier at times, but this is a recurring theme vs Atletico this season.
2-0 is not the end of this tie. If it were a Bayern or PSG it would have been a massacre tonight and in the return.

Cubarsi needs 'a Bastoni/Inigo' type of older leader very badly to guide him a little. Can't be fucking with the likes of Martin, who is Levante level player, come on.

We need TWO new CBs badly, one being Bastoni and the other definitely needs to be a free agent on low(er) wages. Senesi might actually be a really good shout.

Sell the likes of Martin, Araujo, Casado, Ferran (and Olmo, but we won't see that happening sadly). Cubarsi and Garcia should fight for that RCB spot, with Garcia (along with Espart) also challenging Kounde at RB from next season on. LB we keep Balde and Cancelo, if we can get him for free. Otherwise Grimaldo or that Atalanta full back maybe.

One tiny hope we have is Simeone will naturally be inclined to protect the lead even at home. Maybe push for an early goal and kill the tie, but if it doesn't happen... we may have a chance.

But Raphinha and De Jong are still injured, and we'll have to rely on grandpa Lewa in the cauldron that is Metropolitano, lazy bum Rashford, and Araujo.

Hahaha, we're out guys. Risk nothing vs Espanyol, it's a must win game.

Bastoni made a red card tackle as last man few weeks ago in most important match for his country.

I do agree about more experience needed at the back.

Yeah, Bastoni is overrated tripe.
Problem is there aren't many CB's to choose from in this current market. I think, unfortunately, Bastoni is still a much better fundamentally at defending than Cubarsi and Martin. He can do the basics pretty well (set piece defending, not get bullied by taller strikers, positioning).

I'm not saying to settle for what's out there, but can understand why the club might sign him given the horrible state of our backline. Just look at how much of an improvement Cancelo has been over Balde.

Yeah, he would clearly be our best defender. Just seems not to be worth the hassle. Too much money and overall media circus for his potential.

If he were a Van Dijk then it would have been worth it.

You just simply can't survive against a tall striker with Garcia as a CB. Let alone with Martin next to him.

A bit over-simplistic. We conceded from a wonderful fk and Sorloth goal wasn't a header anyway. Eric had a fine game, in my opinion. So did Martin until that second goal.

But I do agree we miss height at the back.

Think Deco said he had an offer for Tah but he chose Bayern. So I guess they are aware and looking but constrained by lack of funds.

Our biggest problem is that we go into a CL KO tie with Rashford and a 40 year old striker upfront and start the 2nd half with Gavi, Fermin, Olmo midfield. But he can hardly complain about that publicly, can he?

If yesterday's opponent wasn't coward Atletico but a team like PSG or Bayern and we get that early red card with those same players on the pitch, it ends 0-7.

Let's see what Lamine does in the next 2 - 3 years if it continues like this. If I'm the biggest talent on the planet I'm not wasting my time passing the ball to Ferran, attempting one-twos with Koundé and watching CBs receive red cards every season in a knockout game.

Hopefully he shows up in crucial KO games and becomes a difference maker.
