Ferran Torres

WC wave put him in the BdO 30, over Raphinha - even the player himself must be embarrassed

Last night not a surprise for cules, Ferran puts in a heroic effort but his lack of quality often lets him down - he'll score great goals but will you be able to rely on him regularly? I don't believe so

even the player himself must be embarrassed
Yeah, I doubt that after his summer talkshow tour in the US. He thinks himself an elite player now because of a single goal and he'll end up in tier2-3 football way sooner than he would like.

:finooktorres:

I think the criticism got to his head tbh if we look at the "look who's talking now" gesture after a few of his goals last season.

Es lo que hay as they say - this is Ferran

He'll miss some easy ones but bang in memorable ones too - no shame or criticism needed, irrespective of ego. I like his mentality and he served us well, no bitterness needed

I agree. When he's successful, some highlight his weaknesses on repeat. When he's unsuccessful, like yesterday, his weaknesses are brought up too.

And all of this for a ~50m euro player. Sometimes you just cannot win. 🤣

But I will admit, some of the videos/memes on X are pretty funny. Like this one:

no bitterness needed
His time with us was okay given his fee. We won some important games thanks to his goals, lost some important games thanks to him missing sitters. Not great, not terrible. It's not bitterness, it's a reaction based on his arrogant behaviour this summer, feeling like an elite player because of a single lucky goal he even admitted himself.

And I get this but he also has to wag the dog with PSG, can't be too critical - it's sadly part of the game. Let's face it, he wasn't 1st choice at Barça under Flick and he understood it - the rest, we got good money back for him after the service on balance he delivered it has been a great success. I only wish him well except when he faces us, when I see him miss yesterday I'm reminded why he will never be truly good enough to start here regularly

After that, I don't feel like he has thrown any notable shade at Barça to warrant any bitterness

I'm thankful we had him for when we did - people forget the financial restrictions we were under at the time and who knows what his friendship with Pedri did for both club & country. Like many I'm annoyed he blew chances maybe many others would have easily converted that would've led to CL titles already but this is football too. It's the club legends who convert, not even transitional players who were otherwise good guys on/off the pitch. His work in his home Valencia after the natural disasters were exemplary, you can't hate on a guy like that

Plus he made some memorable goals too, especially in Clasicos

His time was up here.

Considering how Flick has been known for getting a lot of his attackers, I think it was a tell tale sign that he wasn't going to ever be a starter under us and probably wasn't against him leaving.

Guy's has some great quirks but his main issue was he was such a streaky player where he'll go through a purple patch and then go through periods of Form where he couldn't even hit a barn door.
