I think that was the season we came closest (with Messi pushing and all), cause if we had beaten Liverpool in the second leg or lost by one goal less, we most likely would've won the UCL that season.

Proper strikers have no respect in our club. Heck we don't even know what a striker is let alone how to measure their impact like you try here.
Suarez besides being lazy and a bit fat, had a huge issue, he was a CF or even winger in Ajax, Liverpool, with little ability to play with the back at goal or win headers vs proper defense. It was a hybrid of 10, 7 with a pinch of 9. And that made our team a one trick pony. Because when you have great wingers or inside forwards you need a proper striker to make the attack impredictible not a CF that does the same movements like your stars hence the ability of Atletico to just sit back and enjoy our attack running nowhere.
Worked in the first year because teams tried to outplay or open up then they just pushed Suarez on the sides and put a wall in front of Messi expecting the inevitable blunders from a slow DM and slow CB.
This was the tactic of Argentina too vs Spain but unlike us Spain had a fast CB and a DM in prime and a striker that penetrates space hence the 1-0.

Scored away to Ateltico as Barca beat them 1-0 in Semi Final of Spanish Cup.
Assisted 3 v Real in league decider.

Scored in Spanish Cup Final.

25/26
Scored at home to Atletico in league.
Scored at home to Real in game that put league to bed.
Scored v PSG
Scored and assisted away to Atletico in CL.

Reality is there is hardly a Barca attacker that had as much impact in the biggest games in past two seasons and World Cup Final winner on top of that and assist in QF to win it v Portugal.

Glad some people bring data and facts. He did his job in the last two years and people take that for granted because he didn't score 40 goals or whatever. I don't understand, showed up vs Atletico and Real but he gets no credit for this LL double and recovering some face vs an Atletico that dismantled us at home. Shameless behavior

I think Suarez gave us 2 really good seasons in the league and UCL (he was a proper striker then and almost untouchable). After that, from 2016, he was really bad in the UCL, and I still can't find a reason for it; maybe his leg gave out, and we became easy to predict, especially in the UCL, bar Messi's magic.

His worst run in the UCL was from 2017-19, when he scored 2 goals in 20 UCL games for us, 1 for each year, so we should've replaced him way before 2021, but it is what it is.

He was a CF not striker, you can rewind his whole pre Barcelona career especially the Ajax years if ypu don't believe me. As a CF/10 he was good but once teams figured out how to park the buss it was game over. That's the simplistic explanation. Form can't explain so many failures.
 
Renewing his contract meant we had to pay City another €8–9 million, so it’s understandable that we sold him.


But he’s still far too disrespected by Barça fans. Lucho wanted him for a reason.
 
That we had to pay Man C x million if we renewed his contract is most likely just a deliberate rumor released to justify selling him for less than what we paid for him. :lol:
 
I like him and thought his departure was a mistake but we are committed to Julian
So he had to go and IMO Fermin could cover his absence
