Ferran Torres

Pedri ended the game with 1.23 xA, the highest of all players. 5 key passes and 1 big chance created. All this while having Ferran as your only sort of fast outlet for incisive balls.

Mid game but Pedri is the last Spanish player to be called out.

Serghie has no clue as usual then doubles down as made a twat of himself.

Usual.

It's not that he played worse than the rest. The specifics of the game vs a parked bus puts the biggest responsibility on the creative midfielders, especially after De La Fuente gave away the winger 1 vs 1 advantage by playing 2 players off position as his wingers.

You get a lot of time on the ball to find ways to break the opponents lines. If you generate so little, with so much time on the ball, you had a poor game.

He did not. He passed it sideways in an exhaustingly cautious manner. Like De Jong. He's a top player, but not of a special quality like some greats we had in the past. All is fine if people don't play pretend games to put him up there.
That's not true. He was the only one apart from Yamal, who at least attempted some vertical balls, but most of them failed. It wasn't great match for him, but Spain played so static that most of his passes, even if good, couldn't end up into receivers legs. Likes of Ruiz, Gavi and Rodri were abysmal though. Olmo didn't get to do anything either.

Exactly why I'll always prefer midfielders like KDB

They got the cojones

And can shoot from distance

Not what happened but claiming Ferran was Spains best players is sensational.

It was Pedri easily.

You can have cojones even as a technical, possession based midfielder. You don't have to be box to box, or AM.

Pedri tried one, two, through balls almost made them, but lost the ball, then chickened out and played it safe wide nearly all the time. If you know the wingers are not working out and are hopeless 1 vs 1, why the hell are you playing it wide so damn often?

Rodri for all his poor passes, at least made the defense splitting pass to Cucurella who squared it to Torres for the only sitter Spain had. That was the only properly elite pass that was made by Spain all game.

And who are those elite possession-based midfielders that unlock defenses as well as Pedri? Name me someone. Maybe 5 players? 3 midfielders? one? The reality is that the game is different now.

Pedri had plenty of daring decisions, carrying the ball into the final third on his own, crossing, trying through-balls. I do agree that he looked knackered post the 75th minute or so.

Right now? Not many I'd take above Pedri at CM. But he had a poor game. I always said it's a low quality era in terms of midfielders. In other eras, he doesn't even make top 5.

Pedri created the most chances.
Pedri had the most through balls
Pedri had the most dribbles.

Pedri was only one trying to take ball on and risks to open game up.

On top of that he was 2nd on tackles/interceptions.

No, the level of physical and defensive organization has never been as high in football. Which is why you get fewer wizard-type plays. Pedri is a potential all-time great and you'll see it once he reaches the end of his career.

Absolute nonsense.

You are wasting your time.

Serghie claimes Pedri is weak and slow and will never be top.

While bumming up some utter shite in past in Barcas midfield.

Pedri had most chances created.
Pedri had most through balls.
Pedri had most dribbles.

KDB is a final-third midfielder who played a lot of games at pure CAM, RW and even false 9. Never played deep, not comparable to controller-type midfielders. It's like saying you prefer Bruno over Kroos.
The likes of Xavi and Pirlo played plenty of brilliant defense splitting final balls too

A Midfielder having a good shot from distance is a huge bonus too

Absolute nonsense is claiming Ferran was the best Spanish player today, whereas he had a complete disasterclass by all metrics - the stats, the eye test, casual WC watchers' reaction...

Just try to think before you post.

It is why he is hitting out at Pedri and Frenkie.

Angry he made a cunt of himself with that Ferran claim as doesnt know what is watching.
