Europa League

Celta Vigo, LL's 6th loses to Freiburg, Bundesliga's 8th 3:0 without any chance. Just another example of the ongoing decay under Tebas leadership.

Not so sure you can say this when Spain's 3rd best team is in with a shot to play CL final. Do you see Lille, Marseille, Leverkusen, or Leipzig doing this? I don't.

Btw, IIRC Freiburg just missed CL places in Bundesliga last season in the last round.

They stand on their own feet and their success has nothing to do with Tebas, but stands on 100 years of work to become one of Europe's elite clubs. In our case, it's even the contrary. He exploits it for his own narrative, but all three clubs would have had the same success under any other president. Barca would have been even stronger without his moronic ffp, that denies us and most of other LL clubs to invest.

The overall strength of the league declined hard in the last years. I really don't need to repeat what has happened over the last years and today's state of LL. And what's even worse is the look forward. The teams continue to get weaker, instead of stronger. LL continues demanding to sell players to improve finances. One look on the international success apart form the top 3 of LL clubs this season tells it better than a thousand words. Villareal placed 35th in the CL out of 36, but they are LL's 3rd.

And to Freiburg, two things. First, last season doesn't matter. Secondly, 10 years ago there wasn't even such a discussion, since this kind of duel went 9/10 times easily to the spanish side. The very fact, that you need to try and sell Freiburg, so the loss doesn't feel that bad, is in itself the best confession of LaLiga's downfall.

Yeah, well, when you decline from comfortably no1 in Europe to no2 is still considered declining, so, indeed, La Liga lost the no1 spot to EPL and declined to no2.

But beyond that, there's nothing in it. Still one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, with 3 of the strongest 8 sides in Europe in it.

Btw, of course last season matters the most. These teams play in the competitions they play in because of last season's results. So when we beat Newcastle by 7-2, we faced and beat an EPL side that finished 5th last season in England.
