Draw didn't make Arsenal look dominant vs AM. 50-50 tie that depended on tiny margins.

Ah so now the draw didnt favour Barca...

The draw was very favourable to Barca for third year in a row,

Barca have not met a top CL team in KOs for three years.. they should be progressing further than teams who meet PSG etc earlier and take advantage of it.. couldnt.

Arsenal win like that often.

Now crying about way teams won.

Draw matters a lot, precisely because apart from PSG there are no elite sides around.

But this doesn't change the fact that EPL's top sides are of lower quality vs Europe's best.

EPL sides have across the board done far better in CL than Barca in recent years.

Says it all trying to cheer for QF and SF exits from fortunate draws.

Worse to get put out by Atletico than Real quite clearly. Same with getting put out by Inter.

What can you do, it's tough to fight for CL and La Liga every season and go all the way in both.
 
The money in the Premier League is a double-edged sword because it beefs up the bulk of the league so much it actually probably weakens the top end. Casemiro and Bale have both said recently that the weekly grind of the Premier League is unlike anything you have to deal with in La Liga, and you have to imagine it's the same for Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. Madrid, Barca, PSG and Bayern arrive in much better condition at the back end of the Champions League than the English clubs generally do.
 
The completive nature of the EPL was used as the reason it was doing so well in Europe 24 months ago, now it's flipped because PSG did well.

I remember back in the olden days when la Liga was running the show, the physical nature of the EPL and competitive spirit was the excuse then.

The good old let me see them do this a cold wet day in stoke.

EPL fans and commentators draw for that excuse whenever any team and league is doing well in Europe that's not the prem

Haven't read all the claptrap, but want to remind - PL's recent rise is entirely hinged on being parasite that leaches off all the creme from other leagues. It benefits from the fact that is no longer run, coached or played by english, scots and other britbongs. They are now ethnic minorities that hardly set the tone, especially in top brass. Even England NT is dominated by afros and other mystery meat. It's basically fantasy team league, while others have retained at least some semblance of "national" championship. Well, maybe not France, because it's just Africa, though even they, outside of Quatar, are losing their best niggas to PL.
 
Would say the EPL is still doing well in Europe.

They have won 4 of the last 5 trophies if include the CWC.

While have a team in the two finals in next 10 days.

PSG has been the best going and unlikely Arsenal beat them but no shame in that.
 
Its a pity Freiburg couldnt show their real potential but they are a home team, they always play much worse if they cant play in front of their fans. Deserved win for Aston and Unai.

Unai won EL with VILLAreal, Aston VILLA, and SeVILLA

La Liga is the only big league that is overwhelmingly native in terms of player base. It's the aberration, not the norm.
 
Nah, no other league is so utterly dominated by foreigners unless include France, which is just completely deracinated by the "new french".
