Ebrima Tunkara

I liked this guy from the videos but I also am not that impressed with him after the pre season games.

All comes down to how much he works because he does have the talent to make it at top but not sure how far. What I have not yet seen is that he is a Yamal or Cubarsi level of talent that will adapt immediately and become a superstar in next few years.

This is of course not realistic to expect either, because Yamal and Cubarsi are two very very special players. But some of the people really spoke about Tunkara in this way.
 
Looks to me more like another AM, pseudo forward, than a CM. His play style adds risk, so naturally this should mean a more advanced position. Problem is that area is most stacked in the first team.

I didn't like what I saw from him in CM in this preseason. Seems out of place with the rigors of CM work. And in the above the 2 CMs spots we have Fermin, Olmo, Adeyemi, plus potentially Raphinha, plus Yamal who could play more centrally in time. There's 5 players who could play there who are established names.

Reminds me more of Moriba than another players. It isn't less true that the qualities required from a Barca level CM are near impossible to develop at junior stage. It mostly comes in time but the player has to want to be molded in such way. Most young players would rather be flashy than cerebral and strategic. It is certanly more fun that way, than to master risk management and tempo setting.

He obviously still needs to develop, I mean, he's only 16. But yeah, he isn't a CM, and playing him there would indeed be a bit risky - CAM, and maybe RW in a pinch, are much more natural positions for him.

That said, I don't really count Adeyemi, Raph or Yamal as CAMs. Tunkara is competing with Ferran and Olmo, and Olmo can also play CM if needed. So again, I don't think we're that stacked at CAM. And if one or two of our CAMs or RWs pick up long term injuries, he's definitely going to get some minutes.

For now, Tunkara should train with the first team while continuing to play regularly for Atletic. Maybe he can also get a few minutes of first-team football in the early Copa rounds or against weaker LL opposition. Then next summer, we'll have a much better idea of what to do with him, depending on how he develops throughout the season. It could be a well-planned loan, or he might even stay with the first team - we'll see.

But I really believe he'll play for us in the future. He's a great talent!

If it was a response to my post, than we agree - he's not yet ready. BUT, he's also a huge talent and he needs to train with the first team a lot and maybe get some minutes early in the Copa rounds and worst case scenario if we have many injuries be ready on the bench.
Next summer we would have to evaluate how he's progressed and THAN make a decision if he's joining the first team or go on a well planned loan to a decent club where he would get a lot of minutes...

Not to you. But to folks saying they werent impressed.
 
Just make rewatched highlights of the pre-season games and as somebody else mentioned, he needs to work on his first touch which lets him down sometimes. But dude has so good technique overall it was probably just stress, I mean he's still 16.
No he isn't on the same level as Cuba or Yamal at the same age, but those two were VERY special at that age. Tunkara needs some minutes with the first team in LL to iron out his stress and he'll come good maybe this season already. Imo he's a very special player.
 
I don't think he'll get any minutes with the first team this season, maybe he'll come and train with them them a couple if times - he needs a good season in Atletic with a high lowest level and work on his weaknesses.
