He's very good.

Good progressing the ball. Super athletic and great at covering large distances. CBs in Bundesliga have a tough job considering how open end to end games in that league can get.

Only issue with him is his height. We cannot have two small CBs together. It's a big disadvantage.
Same.
He's a midget. And he will be expensive.
Other than that, out of Bundesliga, he would be my 2nd choice after Schlotterbeck. Schlotty would be perfect for us though. Sad he renewed with Dortmund.

Thought he was Real bound?
how is he Madrid bound when they just signed Konate and extended Rudiger?
Yes, Madrid is (along with Liverpool) one of the three teams he has a special release clause for between 50-60M in his new contract, but maybe we're still that 3rd team, especially after it was confirmed Bayern was NOT.

And I do like Schlotti still as well, always considered him to be more realistic than Bastoni, even though we were more interested in the latter.

I dont give much credence to these special clause rumours. Its almost always tabloid speak to generate clicks on twitter.

All I know, he just renewed, hence he wants to stay. And his release clause should be much higher than 60m.

Will be a bit disappointed if there's no move for Kees Smit this summer. My favorite of midfield talents atm. Have little idea what he would cost but likely under 50 mil no?

We are stacked in Midfield though. No room atlall.

If somehow FDJ leaves, then only I can see us going for Kees. Or else it would be wastefull to spend resources, when we have so many holes in the squad. Midfield should be least of our worries.

Reactions: R9.
Sell Banterny Gordon and bring back Messi.

Use the extra cash to buy Vuskovic.

Raph/Alvarez on the left
Alvarez/Ferran centre forward.
Messi/Olmo CAM.
Lamine/Messi . RW.

I'm only half joking.

Or maybe I'm not joking at all? :bartomeu:

Don't see how the midfield situation is any different from defence. Plenty of names, but beyond the starting 11 there are quite a few question marks.

For the two central/defensive roles Pedri and Frenkie are good enough and reliable. In my eyes Gavi and Bernal must be given similar status to Christensen and Araujo. Question marks on both availability and ability. Olmo and Eric can play there in a pinch but hardly sustainable options. Then a couple of youth prospects.

More or less same story as central defence.

Pure madness. You're trolling, right?

In midfield you’ve got two world class starters in Pedri and de Jong, with the AM position well covered between Fermin and Olmo. You’ve got solid backups in Gavi and Bernal, as well as Olmo and Eric who can cover in the worst case scenario.

In defense, you’re starting Kounde / Eric, Pau, Martin, and Balde.

How’s that comparable? There are priorities and midfield is not among them.

Let's talk central defence vs. central mid excl. the am position, as this makes it simpler.

For CD I see Cubarsi and Martin as reliable options for the coming season. I see Eric as a decent option. Araujo and Christensen have questions marks to them as I said. But both have previously played full seasons here as starters, which does count for something.

In CM we have Pedri and Frenkie as reliable options. Bernal has question marks regarding injury proneness and imo ability when intensity is on. If he shows that he can repeatedly play 90 mins with full intensity, then that question mark will disappear. But for now he hasn't.

Gavi is a big question mark for me. Can be great but often looks like he doesn't know what kind of player he is. Also injury prone.

Similar stories in my eyes.

According to you, Kees Smith has a similar ability/potential to Gavi, Bernal, Eric and maybe even Silva (if all reports are true)??

If you think so, then I am afraid you are just wrong.

More rounded player than Gavi and Bernal I think. In terms of raw talent maybe a notch below but wouldn't be surprised to see him have a better career.

Doesn't really make sense to compare him to a Bernardo Silva, a veteran at the end of his career.

Please no. We already have Balde. He's worse than Balde in attack. Defence he's good, but we dont care about defence, bro.
Spending 40-50m for a 30 year Old just because he's Masia and maybe will be better than Balde, while Cancelo already is better, or Grimaldo will be much cheaper and better.
Why spend money? unnecessary transfer.
