Well said. Fabrizio said that we didn't go for Romero because Flick didn't want it.

So if our CBs eventually end up costing us, it will be more Flick's fault. There is no doubt in this transfer window that he has huge power when it comes to transfers. If he told them get me Romero they would do it, he was also willing to come.
I'm not sure about that. Whenever deals fall through reports seem to immediately attribute it to Flick, and some of them are contradictory to what he says in public.

I would be cautious about those because the board has interest in using his popularity to deflect criticism. If they assign any transfer failure to him, they can escape it, knowing that he does not usually criticise leadership publicly.

However, if it is true that he told them we do not need a defender (I doubt it because any manager will take a big signing over nothing), then he should be overruled, that shouldn't be only his decision. Give him the defender and see how he works with them.

Yes, it is. But Gordon is not an improvement on Raphinha although he is very good.

Using Raphinha to cover the hole at striker isn't added quality since he was already there.

The signing of Gordon and Adeyemi was necessary because we literally had 2 first team forwards. That's why I said the qualitative addition we made was Rodri, but the attacking signings were replacements.
Well there is Jesus as well. You can say he is replacement for Lewa.

I think that when it comes to replacements
Raphinha > Ferran
Gordon < Raphinha
Adeyemi > Rashford (mostly because of his pressing)
Jesus > Lewa (ofc the old and finished version we had last season)

That would be 3/4
Replacing 1 player with a better player is also a qualitative signing, albeit replacement in nature

And before some fans jump on me for bringing negativity after 3 wins, with Xavi bla bla, far from it. I just want the guy to achieve the highest prizes. He's so likeable. But he's his own worst enemy.

The type of guy who would slam his head into a brick wall 5 times and arrive at the conclusion that a 6th time would brink down the wall.

You failed at bringing down a wood wall 2 times. You ain't bringing down a much stronger wall by doing the dame thing a 3rd time. I don't care if Raphinha scores 50 goals like peak Messi. You either defend properly or you go out in CL again to the top elite or even very good side.

Gordon and Rashford is not the correct comparison though, because you just moved Raphinha from there who was the starter.

It would be Gordon < Raphinha.

Then Adeyemi would be compared to Ferran.

Under this model, Rashford and Roony weren't replaced. They are simply minus.

The only real qualitative addition was Rodri.
I like our attack much more than last season. More fluid and higher intensity. Ferran and lewa were competing for starting 9 last season and were underwhelming. Raphina looks better for flicks system and Gordon combines with him very well. Adeyemi, hamza, Jesus backup is not bad all.

You don't need 6 quality players for 3 spots

You really need 5 and a half.

The 6th guy can't be someone who realistically expects to play good minutes, just copa games and 10-20 minutes every few game .

Which is why Hamza and/or Jesse is perfect

Attack is no1 in the world now. I take Kvara over Gordon surely. But I take Lamine and Rapha over Doue and Dembele.

Of course but Fabrizio is the most reliable and renowned football journalist on the planet. There is the possibility they paid him to lie but there is also a certain degree of credibility in what he says.

It is also true Bastoni was our first target this summer, yeah? And all reports were that Deco is a huge fan, while Flick is not very convinced. So did they really lie about both cases? Or maybe it's just reality that Flick trusts his current defenders?

Dracon never gets as animated on here as he does each summer transfer window.

I'm guessing he plays a lot of FIFA and/or Football Manager.

Flick said it himself: he's good with his defense, but fans on here kept telling themselves there's no way Flick looks at this defense and is happy with it. The man literally said he's good.

He rates Martin highly. I don't, but I'm not the coach.

I think Espart playing so well at LB has thrown them a curveball. Zero chance they planned for that; he was just played there in the first game because Flick has fallen out with Balde and Cancelo wasn't ready.

But now that he's playing so well, you can't just drop him if you are a coach that constantly preaches effort and merit.

They obviously see him as a RB/CM. If he was tried at LB impressed during pre season, then I assume they would have done something a bit different at the back. We don't need Cancelo if we have Espart maintaining this level, to be honest.

LW was the priority, which is why they moved for Gordon so quickly, then striker. I can understand why they waited for Alvarez, and I think Jesus is a risk, but he fits the profile the coach wants.

RB: Garcia, Espart

CB: Martin, Kounde, Christensen, Cuba

LB: Cancelo, Balde

That's solid. Signing Bastoni or whoever wouldn't have increased our chances of winning the CL. We are right behind PSG with a group of 3-5 teams.

In conclusion, stop whining about CB. The coach didn't see it as a priority.
Ya man, you can say whatever you like to suit your narrative.

You can't convince me or any rational person with a bit of ambition or actually wanting the team to win that:-

CB: Martin, Kounde, Christensen, Cuba

Is solid. Lol.

Or we couldnt find a single player for 3 whole months to upgrade over Martin.

Why not. 2 of those are starters in the back fours of best NTs in the world by a mile.

No need to convince you it happen.
People in charge of making these decisions which 100% includes flick.
Said they are happy with the situation.

Because they understand something very simple that FIFA fans simply don't understand

One of them is a RB

I know, but it is really not as crap as we're showing on the field. Most teams take a lot of precautions to avoid fast players running 1 vs 1 at their defenders. We don't. We defend as it's 'oups, figure it out guys'. And then, sure, they feck up. The thing is, other defenders would feck up also, except they never get put in those situations several times a match even vs crap teams.

Long story short, it is not right that teams like Elche and Rayo creare 7-8 clear goalscoring chances against you. Somethins is badly done.

Mikael Baza is not the centre-back signing Barça were looking for the first team. He's a seperate signing. [@gerardromero]:lol::lol:

Careful guys, Gerard Romero might actually get something right at the end of the transfer window. Embarrassing
He missed that too:lol:

Lacking ambition from fans, that's it.

I can give most that our priority was signing a ST, so CB was a secondary, though.
But then, coming out of the window without signing a ST too, you have to take a FAIL.

If Deco got us the ST signing, I would be fine saying all resources went to that. Its a gamble he or Flick took, and now they have failed.

They said there isn't an ST happening other than Alvarez. So how come we got Jesus?

He missed that too:lol:

He's a separate signing.

He's Juvenil A new centreback.
Barca Atletic new centreback.
And the first teams new centreback.

Like the father, the son and the holy spirit. He is all three individually, and all three at once.

Deco has done it once again pulled a blinder. This time at on Sunday at the Church.

Siiiiuuuu.
