Romero managed to come up with a name that hadn’t been mentioned before and claimed that Flick gave the green light. There’s no fucking way Flick gave the green light for him, because there are at least five better strikers out there.
 
I like him as a player from what I've seen in videos and also in some CL games last season (remember the one against PSG they won and he scored a brace)

But it's a gamble because we are signing from Portuguese league. Tends to make strikers look 10x better than they are
 
Always knew he exists because of the name but never watched him. His stats in Portugal are impressive but it's Portugal. No idea how much would he cost, Sporting paid 23 last summer and they count on him so it probably wouldn't be that cheap. Fits into the idea someone wrote about a few days ago here, having 5-6 players with 10+ goals in all competitions, he could reach those. Probably the smartest strategy at this point since landing a top striker seems impossible.

It would be the third Luis Suarez in our club, that happened ever?

That's interesting.

From what I heard he also is a pressing machine. Probably big part of the reason why Flick gave an OK.

Mikautadze for example has some off the ball problems.

Well most of the Portuguese league strikers in recent years have failed when they took the big step

Gyokeres is doing a solid job in Arsenal but obviously more was expected from him considering the stuff he was doing back in Sporting

Depends on price, and knowing Portuguese sides, they will market him at 60m+ and we walk away.

And the biggest problem with Osimhen is not the age, it's that we could have a trouble maker on our hands like with Ibrahimovic, and that for huge money.

The problem will be the price. We should only reach 70-80m for players who are established at a high level. This guy is neither established at a high level, nor has good age, and is a wild risk in every area. Sporting is never going to sell him to us for 35-40m. At this price, he'd be fine even as squad player instead of Ferran Torres.

Age wouldn't be a problem if you'd have some sort of assurance he'd slot in and get things done fast. We don't have that.
 
I'd prefer Pavlidis if we move past the 30-50m range and into the 60-80m area, and if we are looking at Portuguese strikers. But then again in this market Benfica could slap a 90+ price tag on Pavlidis.

I'd personally get the hint in the 9 area after multiple failures to attract any of the top targets and see this as the perfect excuse to fix the defense. Surely some market opportunity will be available late in the window for a plan B player with good numbers. This almost always happens.

It isn't age alone, it is age combined with his career so far.

He is older, worse than guys that were considered underwhelming choices like Ferran himself, Oyarzabal (only one that is older than him), Mikautadze and might cost more.

In a club that is putting huge emphasis on pressing, age is also an important factor.
