Barca squad/XI

Why? It was weird to use seniority as the main argument in the first place. It should count but should not be the whole deciding factor.

We don't use seniority for captains,it is team voting.

Usually, they have 4 (or 5) voted in order. When someone leaves, next one take over and they vote for last place.

So, what is weird is voting for first captain. It didn't happen for over two decades.

The source is Brazilian btw, so for now it isn't confirmed

The armband is overrated anyways. You can be a leader on the pitch without it or no leader with it. If Rodri says something, all will listen anyways.

Still, we avoid embarrassments like having first captains we try to get rid of and the only way we can do that is pay them to leave. De Jong is a fair bit above that status, but he ain't captain material to me.

To think we can have a bench if everyone is fit with these names:

Sczeczny, Baldé, Christensen, Garcia, Adeyemi, Fermin, Gavi, De Jong, Hamza, Ebrima, Bisiwu, Espart

An outfield of Garcia, Cancelo, Kounde, Cubarsi, Martin, Pedri, Rodri, Olmo, Lamine, Raphinha, Gordon

My goodness, can't wait for the clasicos.

It's good depth but the starters are far from a sure thing.

So far we've signed Gordon, Adeyemi, Bisiwu, Cancelo and Rodri. Just 3-4 months ago every single fan and Catalan media outlet were begging for a new CB and it seemed this was the absolute goal of Flick and club to strengthen, but still no CB.

Add to that the departures of Ferran and Lewy, and still no replacement. I just hope Flick has a clear solution in mind if there isn't a signing. Or else it will be half a season of experimenting with Raphinha, Gordon, Olmo, Yamal and Adeyemi in different roles at CF.

Team looks good overall if things will click, but that's a big if. Olmo had a subpar season last year and fell behind. We are basing our hopes on World Cup form for Cubarsi, Rodri and Olmo even though we all know World Cup and club football are different. Cancelo is inconsistent and Kounde has been a passenger in the XI for most of last season. Martin is underrated imo but is he really good enough for CL nights. Questions can be asked of most in the XI. Lots to prove, but I'm excited either way.

Nah
Need a starter LCB & a ST then we have everything to win a UCL
The bench is best in class, but without these two starting spots being filled, the team will be lacking.

A bit of an overstatement with the bench being 'best in class'.

Sczeczny, Baldé are bums. Christensen is injured all the time. Hamza, Ebrima, Bisiwu, Espart are unknown quantities.

Only the backline is iffy.
Balde as a backup is excellent. We disagree if he's a bum or not.
Same can be said about Eric. He's excellent as a backup RB. And he's good enough as a RCB.

Tek I can agree. But not many teams have an excellent backup GK. And Tek was our GK in 24/25 season.

Midfield is stacked, up front with Gordon & Adeyemi are class.

Just a few additions and we are set. Best in class might be an overstatement, but not many teams have such good depth.

If Tek is a bum, what does that make your favourite The Terrorist. Tek is 10 times the player Mats is, and is good enough to be the backup.

Love Tek but we could be in trouble if Joan suffers more injuries. Tek is already getting very old and who knows at what intensity this guy trains, he is there just for the vibes.

That being said last season in El Clasico on Bernabeu he probably saved us from embarrassment. What a performance he had. You never know. Just that his ball playing can be a problem.

Ideally Tek is a 3rd GK tbh, a near retiree guy that doesn't take minutes and just here for the vibes.

But he is still good enough for backup role. He isn't a weakness when he plays

Stegen is starting for Ajax, while your favorite nicotine addict is a glorified court jester at FC Barcelona.

He is 3rd or 4th option level. Had multiple blunders and that was last season. Now he is cashing in his pension.

Maybe if Stegs was any good he would have the privilege of now sitting on the bench, getting money for nothing and chilling with the team

But he is a bum that no person in the club wants to see on goal ever again and also a toxic influence in dressing room

While Tek is helping Joan learn and treats him as a friend, terrorist would probably be jealous and demand that he starts instead. These are the small differences, not just in ability but also personality

Him being unwanted for other reasons doesn't mean he is a worse GK than the smoking clown.
