If this was going to happen at the price quoted it would have happened already.

Plus I don't see him screwing over athletic after rejoining.

He's won everything might as well stay at a club he calls his home

Yes, sadly it appears the 15m release clause was fake and without it, Bilbao will never speak to us anyways. He would have filled Inigo's role perfectly next to Cubarsi. Well you can't have everything.

Rodri is not the same. He benefited hugely from Pep Guardiola. Laporte yes, typical aftertimers showing interest after a big event like him doing well at the World Cup.

God forbid we did this earlier. Laporte started in Spain's Euro winning campaign also if I remember it well, and Bilbao got him for cheap. Wouldn't have been better had we replaced Martinez with Laporte?

If at the end of last season anyone here said Laporte is good enough for Barca, they would have been laughed out of the Barcaforum asylum.

Do you guys still want him? :lol:

It's a terrible indictment on our Sporting Department that they wanted a 32 year old who has been bang average for the last 3 seasons, just because he played 8 good games in the summer, largely against cannon fodder.
 
Not much to suggest our sporting department want/wanted him. Been some rumors like with half a dozen CBs this summer.
 
Doubt club really wanted him

Maybe they would sign Laporte if he was super cheap (something like below 20m) when it would make sense even with all his shortcomings

But that release clause and the relationship we have with Bilbao. Means impossible
