Some of Pope's words here are true and very well said but what draws my attention the most is what this co-founder said.

What these big tech CEOs, founders, co-founders keep saying about AI makes me think things are slowly getting out of hand and they don't really know what this all is leading to.

This guy claims they keep finding mysterious and unsettling stuff that indicates the first signs of introspection in AI.

It's funny to me how they keep repeating they won't let AI replace humans at jobs, as if they can do something. The big tech companies won't listen to Pope when it comes to making trilions and trilions of profit.

It's already here. The job market is fucked. Corporate and corpo-adjacent jobs just get slashed relentlessly. Even public sector.

I don't see what the endgame is if not UBI. You're gonna have a fuckton of angry unemployed people, which is a great recipe for violent protests/revolts.

There's no profit in them at all, but they don't need it, because they also own the money printer. The sole purpose of ai and data centers is global totalitarian control. Same techbros (mostly jews, of course) are behind Palantir. All this shit is aimed at mass surveillance, censorship and cancelling people, who disobey. Also CBDC. As a nice additional effect it also dumbs people down even more than already available media and gadgets.
 
I use AI a lot as tool at work and it messes up a lot still.

Overhyped like hell.

Most shocking to me it that utility company in Utah(I think) will cease to deliver power to private individuals because it will start delivering for a data center. That is dystopian lol
 
Data centers pop up everywhere.

They take away farming land, devour electricity, use up water which isn't an abundant commodity everywhere. They look awful too.
I am afraid A.I. isn't what calculators or PCs became in the last 5 decades. I am afraid it will thwart the evolution of mankind and lead it astray.
People will rather talk to chat bots and socialize with robots than themselves.

Like every technology, you have to know how to use it.

For everyday mundane questions, it might fuck up, because when you ask how to "cook your spaghetti the best way", AI gets its info from Google, Reddit, Facebook and whatnot, i. e. from the opinions and written stuff of masses of idiots. Even worse for political stuff.

For actual hard sciences like maths and theoretical physics, where it gets its data mostly from academic papers, books, journals etc., fields where not many idiots are publishing information, the Plus version of ChatGPT is almost faultless at this point. It takes my simulation data, creates a Python script within a minute to convert the raw data into trajectory data then writes another script which reads the trajectory data and creates paper ready figures with interpretation, all within minutes. By hand, you would need days to get the same results.

This makes more sense, of course.

I do realize, there's nothing you can do about the capitalistic driving force which always follows profitability, and thus far A.I. proves to be a hot sale, whether mere mortals such as me like it or not.
It doesn't mean that Ted Kaczynski's Manifesto should be completely ignored and not prompt some reflection.

I tried chatgpt plus version - I think subscription is $20.00 - and its speech comprehension and synthesis are unbelievable. I've had some fun with it and decided to keep it for now. Surely, I wouldn't ask it if a mushroom is edible but I do ask it for things like weather forecast, sport results, or to find a truck part. Recently, it helped me to fix my kitchen refrigerator...thus paid for itself easily.

Plus, instead of talking to myself, I can chat with it while driving...:lol:

When first railways were built, some believed that traveling faster than horse's galloping could tear up internal organs...
So, basically, to be afraid of something or to be concerned about something is OK...it doesn't mean it has to be that bad, or true at all.
 
AI has basically become a tool of atheism. Ask it about the eclipse and it will do everything within its modules to tell you that it is not that big of mathematical deal.

I fear for the coming generations ability to source and process information, if this is all they will rely on with no critical thoughts.
 
Well like every really good and groundbreaking technology AI has huge upsides and downsides

Upsides I would say is helping humanity do some of the time consuming manual jobs in programming, research and other areas much much faster

Being a complete source of all human knowledge in all areas available to the average man on just one click

The downsides... are obvious. Taking jobs away from real people with families. Allowing a completely new sphere of propaganda , misinformation campaigns.

I recently saw a youtube video exposing some guy called Egon Cholakian to be AI and it creeped the fuck out of me. He had a linkedn account, youtube account where he posted videos about politics and whatnot that actually look VERY real, other social media. But he was not a real person.

So there is that. And with advancement of AI who knows what we will get. Probably even barcaforum members who are not real.

Now, when it is in full motion, It will go wherever it will go. We can't stop it. I personally reserve the right to be skeptical about it...or at best, be like a dog playing with a hedgehog.
 
Have to say if I were just starting my career, I'd be worried. Easy to say AI will create jobs, but it will be hard to adjust when the price of intelligence is decreasing so rapidly and especially since that's been entry level workers' main capital.

On the other hand, have to say it's scary good for all sorts of technical tasks if you know what you're doing. I was always heavy on testing in my work, so I rarely find issues with its implementations within my established workflows. I work in a heavily regulated field where best practices only come with experience and expert judgement is needed so I don't feel directly at risk or worried like many people do these days, at least not yet. But I must admit I'm beginning to think about returning and starting a B&B :lol:
