A bit disappointed in Scaloni this WC. Think he forgot his balls at home. He is being stubborn and playing it way too safe. Drop Mac Allister, use a formation where Paz plays behind Alvarez and Messi. It really isn’t that hard. It’s been said a thousand times already, but they need more creativity and dribblers.

The 3 new names are tactical perfect parades gives you better passing from deep.

Nico gives genuine width, but I'm more sure he's the required quality but with him being probably the only true winger, not much choice there.

Would have kept in RDP over MacA is this situation though
 
How come nico paz doesnt play? Is a good player imo.

Also I read there was a paid smear campaign by bots against Argentina by a pr firm after the cabo match.
Makes sense since my algoritm was filled with these messi fifa argentina posts.
Does anyone know if its true and who paid for it?

I love Nico Paz and I think where I see where Scaloni is coming from is that Paz might be facing the Dybala conundrum at the national team level.

Although Paz is more versatile than Dybala, his best work does come in the same zone that Messi operates. If you ever want to play them both together, the best position to play Paz would be where MacA has played back in the WC final. This needs a true Left winger to hold the touchline and Paz to be deeper than he usually does and help out a lot more defensively.

Or play a 3-4-1-2 and the 1 being Paz with a front 2 of Messi and Alvarez. But again, Paz needs to be deeper than he usually does and help out a lot more defensively.
 
We’ll get a good sense today how far this team can go in the tournament.

I believe in this group of champions but they need to show the level they showed during qualifiers
 
As I mentioned before, it's in the team's DNA. The team and the fans are meant to suffer so that the ultimate prize makes it so much sweeter.

I hate and love this team because of this.

I need a day off. Will write my thoughts once I'm calmed down.
 
Scaloni, you've been a wonderful manager in the last 6 years, but this completely lack of imagination and work needs to stop.

You cannot be putting out the same XI basically every game no matter what the situation is or how we look on the field.

The level of players you still have are deserving of SF (everything else is bonus).

Do some actual managing, because this is embarrassing relying on miracle after miracle.
 
Scaloni deserves immense criticism. I was swearing at him during the game.

We should be easing past sides like Cabo Verde and Egypt but we are clearly not clicking. The same players, tactics don't work. His refusal to play youth including maybe not taking Aranda for example. When we had width today switched play we looked dangerous.

Buat against a side better than Egypt we will come undone for certain maybe Colombia if they get through. Barco is such a painful absence. He should have come on.

This tournament is exhausting and yet some players have barely logged minutes. At least Julian looked a lot sharper today. And in the end the changes worked. Why Scaloni waited until 61 minutes well.... I had the changes Barco for RDP, Lautaro for Paredes pencilled in. However we must avoid going behind again.

I would like it we did have a 3-5-2 it offers so much more for the players we do have. Of course all the conspiracy theorists and the Cristina fan club are crying now in Mummy's basement spewing vitriol.
 
Scaloni is trusting the 2022 squad too much. The reason they performed so well at the last WC was because the core bar Messi and Di Maria was young. Hungry MacAllister, de Paul, Julian, Enzo coming off the bench and performing to solidify his place in the 11.

This team needs an injection of youth and pace. Okay, maybe Nico Paz operates in the same spaces as Messi. But why not play with wingers like Simeone or Nico G? They have plenty of defensive workrate to account for Messi’s kilometers.
