Gordon, a good signing?

PSG tabling a bid for Godts. He was another one of those we were linked with. Very technical player but perhaps lacks pace. Aka Belgian Kvara. Big upside though.

Price would be Gordon range. So there's an alternative, but also an alternative that we discarded for Gordon.

I think he and Akliouche are very solid rotation options but not players you would be confident of stepping into the first 11 for a prolonged run. Atleast not yet.

Mentioned Akliouche last Summer when we were linked with Ben Seghir as the one we should pursue. Now the big boys are fighting for him.
Reported Godts is going to cost around 65m.

Ya I think I am happy with Gordon's price, aint no way he should be off a similar MV. Godts has bigger potential thats for sure.

I dont think PSG even needs Godts, they've got Kvara and Doue already and are signing Akliouche.

I think they'll need a pacy profile like Barcola, since he doesnt plan to renew with them

I was going to say that PSG can afford the risk. But then again so can we at AML considering the starter is Raphi. So we should be in the position to go for a high potential long term replacement there.

Striker is where we can't afford the risk as we will now be facing a huge gap there if Ferran too, goes.

True. I was in the same mind before we got Gordon.
But it is what it is.

You're doing the same thing with Gordon........

Newcastle fans were literally celebrating and surprised that Barca bid 80 mil for him. Wasn't even unanimously rated by the Newcastle fanbase who have very low standards.
80mil is normal price for Gordon. Everyone who follows prices in the market knows this

Newcastle fans were surprised because they mostly live in a bubble and don't follow football outside their club, like most EPL 'fans'

Nobody is saying he will be world beater at Barca. I have watched him in world cup, against Barca in CL and some games in EPL. We don't expect him to do the things he is not good at. Flick will utilize his strengrhs

Gordon suffered when he was asked to be the main man in attack after Isak left. This is why Newcastle fans celebrated his sale, he wasn't what they needed.

He is most suited for supporting role which will be his role here.

You just know if Gordon signed for Bayern, Liverpool or QSG people would talk a different tune about him.

He will show up in the big games, with his pace and workrate, against teams who gives us space and don't play a low block, he will be lethal.

Yo i think a guy like him would have stopped Inter from scoring as his insane defense work wont allow them to attack

People shit on Diaz when he signed for Bayern too.

He can't score.
He has no productivity.
His face is as flat as a Vietnamese shoemaker

Etc.

And we all know how great his season was

If anything, we have shown so far we know our game when it comes to wing players. Deco in particular is good at spotting the right wingers for the club. This gives me hope. I have big doubts in some areas, but all of Raphinha, Gordon, even the fact that we chased Diaz and even Nico Williams to some extent, now Adeyemi.

I rate all of these. Nice mix of speed, workrate, professionalism, end product. Diverse cast of really reliable qualities that make a team function well on the wings.

Bayern were chasing some of the same names. They were in for Nico, they signed Diaz when we couldn't, we signed Gordon when they were linked first.

Godts is completely unproven at a higher level. These are the type of punts that can fizzle out all the time. If he goes well, people will say, well how didn't we see that?

And if he flops, then people will move on and forget it ever happened. And they do that a lot. PSG signed a lot of players they ended up discarding before finding the right fits, it is not held against them, people only mention when they get it right (and its far easier when you can spin the wheel an unlimited number of times). We can't do that because of the situation.

Spending 70m on a punt is a hard thing to do unless we are really sure this player possesses the characteristics we want. And Gordon, compared to him, has played at the highest levels and shown good contribution, so we know his ceiling is higher.

Folks are still mad on the 30M we paid for Roque, with some saying he is a money laundry or whatever type of shit they believe. Imagine paying 70M for an Ajax player

Also Schjelderup, and before the World Cup folks were mocking such link.

I really don't think he is worse than Ferran at 9

Not much better either though

But he is very intelligent. You can see it a lot in this video. He often makes the runs and attacks space but Newcastle players don't recognize it

His main weakness is probably dribbling which is why we have to give him a more central role and I'm sure Flick will

I just want to see a front three of Adeyemi, Gordon and Yamal. Think it could be deadly in the right games.

Gordon has all the attributes to become a success in the middle of attack.

Yeah but don't write Rapha off

He is still locked in starter unless he suffers more injuries. Hopefully that won't happen

And he is far better than Gordon or Adeyemi
