Gordon, a good signing?

Wouldn't be impossible for him to improve on the ball when finally training with the Barca boys.

I think we will have a surprise regarding even how good he is on the ball currently. The base level he is supposed to improve upon at Barca, his current ability, is higher than most believe.

He's a top player. Will play like one from day one. The improvement, like Raphinha, will make him one of the best wing players in the world.

I don't see how this transfer is much different to Raphinha, who was an absolute home run.

Just relax, and trust Flick.

I think some of you are huffing hopium.
Not only they deny basic stuff a top winger should be good at, they throw the old ultimate argument on the table - "in Flick we trust!".

What's even funnier is that most of these clowns started supporting Barca because of the magical players this club had over the years. Now they're wanking themselves silly over the workrate this border collie will put in.

Yeah, it could work out. I would've preferred if they added 20m and got Diomade for 100 m. He's currently on a 750k yearly salary, while Gordon was earning around 8m at Newcastle, so even offering Diomade Gordon's salary at Newcastle now is like x10 his current salary.

The kid is 19 and would be a menace for whoever signs him. I know PSG and Liverpool are potential destinations

Irony is you are the biggest clown who started supporting Barca due to the amigos.

You predicted Barca would be done when they left and now actively seethe when Barca win and get giddy when they lose.

Don't think Leipzig will sell Diomande for 100m. They have reportedly told clubs that 130m is the minimum for him according to Ornstein who is the best in the business.

Clubs just need to start balking at these prices collectively in order to ensure a better market for everyone.

Keep ignoring these guys and suddenly they will be desperate to sell when the golden ticket has a bad season and blows up in their hands.

Seriously, what is better for a club, invest 130m into your scouting/youth/training facilities or spend 130m on Diomande? With the first one you'll probably keep producing good players for decades and eventually make the money back and more, the 2nd is a gamble who is unproven and can still flop.

That's a very basic and common negotiation tactic.

They probably want to sell at around 100 mil plus add ons.

So they're officially starting at 130. Liverpool will negotiate it down to 100 plus add ons.

Easier said than done. It takes years to get positive results from your academy and still there's no guarantee you'll produce a single world class footballer even after a few years. Even if you have the best infrastructure and facilities.

Being a Barca fan has warped your perception. Not everyone can recreate La Masia or even the Chelsea academy. Consider yourself very lucky!

Teams need immediate reinforcements. If you want to stay at the top, you HAVE TO spend big. It's that simple. We don't have time to wait for academy gems. If you wait, the competition in the PL will kill you.

Even La Masia can't produce strikers which is why Barca has to overspend on them (look at the money you have spent over the years).

A World Class Footballer is extremely rare. It's absolute gold.

I agree, but in this case it would be paying 130m for a prospect who had moved for only 10m or something a very short time ago, not a proven quality footballer and one that other teams could have scouted whilst he was playing at lower levels.

So stories like this should be pushing teams to deepen their scouting, but buying players at this stage in their career in this market is the worst value proposition. For this kind of fee, you should be getting an already developed footballer in their prime, ideally, or otherwise a talent who is already clearly at a top class level eg Yamal or Pedri when he was younger.

You assume all of the risk without a very secure reward. For him to be worth 100m+ he needs to perform at a world-class level immediately, but he's young and it's not even clear that he is Liverpool level yet, it's inherently a gamble.

These sorts of signings used to be 20, 30m, but now you have to pay 100m even for bets, crazy.

Liverpool already has great investment in the academy and other youth facilities. We have had some great academy players recently like Rio, Bradley, Quansah, Kelleher and Curtis (who has played a lot of games for us). Also had Trent. All of these are very good top flight footballers at worst.

Before that we had iconic academy products like Gerrard, Owen, Fowler, McManaman and Carragher. Also other successful pros like Sterling, Gulasci, Coady and Doak.

It's a top class academy but the output still isn't La Masia levels and never will be. The club can't do anything about that. Still a fantastic academy in general.

No.

It will be atleast 120mil plus, both club want him big, especially since Barcola is really likely to leave.

PSG isn't THAT into him. Look at Ornstein's tweet.

And the player probably knows he won't be a starter at PSG.

Leipzig are a bit of a scammer club.
I expect aleast a 20% inflated market evaluation on their players.

For Diomande, 70m in this current market, is a good evaluation. Even 100m is absolute nuts.
