Pleased with his debut, a longtime coming which highlights the patience needed with the player. He was often part of 1st team training dynamic but then for nearly 12 months was absent - the latter end overlapping with the desperate central defense depth issues that surprised Flick & Barça
It tells you Flick likes what he sees from the youth team leader but there is work to be done still on his game, that he wasn't quite ready. He did not have a Pau sort of debut where we were 3rd in the table on the road against Betis, facing a depth crisis rather than a relegation zone opponent after having clinched the league title. Tranquilo - he shows promise but very early days

He didnt get to show it much the other night but one of his main assets is his power attacking aerial balls in both boxes.
Has a a big frame and times his runs/jumps well.
The best Barca have at that for now is Eric in tracking balls into opposition box but Cortes is another notch up in power to attack it.

I felt like he could be pretty decent. Can definitely see him starting ahead of Martin in half a year if given time.
