Yamal tired tonight also as game went on.. another one simply had to start to beat the great Espanyol.

AM rested players before legs because they have zero chance to win the championship. I said all along Flick has some quirks about him that are detrimental to the team. He is a great manager, but stubborn, and sometimes his worst enemy.

Who knows, he's a relatively young manager with just a few seasons in CL. This is what, his 5th season in CL? He played and won that short covid format where even Leipzig made the semis because Bundesliga teams got a head start coming back from quarantine.

He can improve. Even stubborn people can improve some things, but it takes longer to admit errors.

I know why they rested them.. its clear why but for Barca not to rest more v Espanyol wasnt good enough and allow them fresher legs from two previous games.

The Espanol squad is clearly a mistake and this is not hindsight. the team is running on fumes since the return copa game. Real gifted us a big lead and we would beat Espanol probably with all subs. even if we lost, it is still OK. abysmal decision as well as the Lewa sub.

But he won the league game & won today

Playing them for 90 wasn't the issue.

We just weren't good enough in the 2nd half & got a red.
 
Mistakes were made in the tie. In the end, it's not really because they rested more. It's because that fucktard Raphinha injured himself in a friendly, Cubarsi is an overrated defender who has shite for brains, and the bench wasn't good enough.

Just imagine Ferran, Raphinha, and this level Yamal from the start. We nuke them.

it is accumulated fatigue. gave our all for a 1 in a million copa remontada and haven't properly rotated since. lost players in that tie too. usually we were better second halves. since then, team is always fatigued after 60

It was a mistake, no doubt. But the part I disagree with is that it would've made that much difference. The biggest factors of this failure were to be found someplace else.

One is AM put in Sorloth and his impact was immediate, we put in Lewandowski, Rashford, and Roony. Ah, and we put Araujo as a striker, another bum. Too many useless players.

I dont think team look tired overall but it is about being as fresh as possible.

Playing Pedri and Yamal for 90 mins v shite like Espanyol 3 days before away to Atletico is moronic.

OK, but you really think this was the biggest reason?

I think a bigger flaw is not switching approach at 2-0 up. You already are level in the tie. Take it easier, it's job done before the match, plan worked perfectly and you just leveled a tie away in 15 mins or so.

And you have 70 minutes + to open up Atletico without risking it all with end to end affair.

Flick should widen his tactical acumen.
 
Some of them (including Yamal) were gassed even from the first half. So yes, it was a major error giving them so many minutes of play.

It is a factor and need likes of Pedri fresh as possible to have maximum impact.

Same with Yamal.

Pedri was poor and Yamal less involved as game went on.

His subs tonight were also poor.
