7 - Ferran Torres

Other than the one he took off.

Bizarre.

Well more than one but still the one attacker who still looked fresh and probably played less minutes than others in last month.

His subs were like valverde subs you already knew what was going to happen.

They weren't determined by the game

Was considered done for months, scores few, he's a starter next season. Odd. But Ferran is a an odd player.

He's too inconsistent to be a starter for Barca. Between decent games, he doesn't score for a month or two. Not to mention him wasting way too many 1vs1 situations.
But beggers can't be choosers and since our focus will be on the defense this summer, he'll get plenty of playing time again next season.

He's not too inconsistent he is just too shit. Even at his best this dude does a lot of great stuff but it's still nowhere near what we need.

You are right about his playtime though. Even if we bring a striker Ferran is getting a lot of minutes.

Considering the state of finances atm he could still help the team as a sub/rotational player provided we get rid of the polish old striker and bring on a decent replacement for Lewandowski as a starter.

You can't replace Torres with a decent 9. He's more than decent himself, the only way you have Torres as a rotation player is if you sign a top class 9.

Ferran Torres in the last 2 seasons scored goals in CL quarters, Cup semis, Cup final, CL semis. I mean... you have to be very good to do this vs top opposition.

I'll probably put this as my forum signature - Sorloth has the same output, playing a rotation role, for a worse team, with a defensive minded manager, for half the signing fee and lower wages.

The same bullshit excuses were used for Rashford at the beginning of the season, and then Atletico signed Lookman for 30M and tore us a new ashole.

Don't compare Rashford with Torres. Rashford went missing completely when called on, and Torres scored a great goal, made a very good assist and then had another superb finish for a 3rd one that was offside.

Torres also scored in the final of Copa del Rey when the team was behind, has good numbers, and is much younger.

Sorloth and Lookman were great buys for the transfer fees paid for them, no doubt. They would make great subs for us. Torres is a very good squad member also, even though we overpaid for him, which is a correct observation.

Rashford is just lazy and isn't worth anything, except for some goals and assists vs weaker sides. Which we would beat anyway.

I wasn't comparing Rashford to Torres. I was pointing out that this same retarded logic of 'oh, there are no options on the market' was used in both cases.

Meant replaing the polish striker not Ferran. But that ain't no easy task in this market and in such financial situation the club is currently in.

There is a fair shot that we have to roll with Ferran and an unknown striker next season. You heard it here first. By unknown I mean not a world class striker like we hope.

Be prepared

We aren't signing a top rated, proven world class striker any time soon, so the obvious play is we keep Ferran for all his pros and cons and buy another "bet" striker. That is how we will be operating from now on. We are still broke af.

No CL for the next couple of years then. If we fumble the striker signing it's also bye Liga.

Lewa was more or less a non factor in LL too this season. Ferran pulled his weight there. I believe La Liga is again in our reach even without Lewa.

Our 4 forwards are close on goalscoring in LL - within 11 and 15 goals. So I'd say that the team as a whole does a good job in spreading the goals between them. Not much between Lewa and Ferran.
But, we don't have a differentiator in big KO ties and Madrid might get their shit together and play in LL as well as their squad demands it.
